摘要： A sequence estimation circuit may be operable to receive a sample of a received inter-symbol correlated (ISC) signal corresponding to a transmitted vector of symbols, wherein each of the symbols is one of a plurality of symbols in a particular constellation. The sequence estimation circuit may be operable to generate an estimate of the transmitted vector of symbols using a reduced state sequence estimation (RSSE) process. Each iteration of the RSSE process may comprise generating a plurality of candidate vectors. A first element of each of the candidate vectors may hold a respective one of the plurality symbols in the particular constellation. The first element may be an estimate of a symbol of the transmitted vector of symbols other than a most-recent symbol of the transmitted vector of symbols. A second element of each of said candidate vectors holds a respective one of a plurality of calculated filler values.

摘要： A receiver may be operable to generate estimates of transmitted symbols using a sequence estimation process that may incorporate a non-linear model. The non-linear model may be adapted by the receiver based on particular communication information that may be indicative of non-linearity experienced by the transmitted symbols. The receiver may generate a reconstructed signal from the estimates of the transmitted symbols. The receiver may adapt the non-linear model based on values of an error signal generated from the reconstructed signal, and the values of the error signal may be generated from a portion of the generated estimates that may correspond to known symbols and/or information symbols. The values of the error signal corresponding to the known symbols may be given more weight in an adaptation algorithm, and the values of the error signal corresponding to the information symbols may be given less weight in the adaptation algorithm.

The circuitry may be operable to receive a single-carrier signal that was generated by passage of symbols through a partial response filter and through a non-linear circuit. An output of the non-linearity modeling circuit may be equal to a corresponding input of the non-linearity modeling circuit modified according to a non-linear model that approximates the non-linearity of the non-linear circuit through which the received signal passed.

In one embodiment, an undersampling observation receiver (22) receives a concurrent multi-band signal output by a power amplifier (18). The concurrent multi-band output signal includes multiple original frequency bands. The undersampling observation receiver (22) undersamples the concurrent multi-band signal at a select sampling rate to provide an undersampled multi-band signal. The select sampling rate is such that a frequency-flipped image of at least one of the original frequency bands and images of any remaining original frequency bands fall within a frequency range of zero to half of the select sampling rate and do not overlap one another.

摘要： Systems and methods for compensating for a non-linear characteristic of a non-linear filter (30) in a transmit chain of a transmitter (28) using predistortion are disclosed. In one embodiment, a transmitter includes a power amplifier (36) configured to amplify a radio frequency input signal to provide an amplified radio frequency signal, a non-linear filter (30) configured to filter the amplified radio frequency signal to provide an output signal of the transmitter, and a predistorter (64) configured effect predistortion of the amplified radio frequency signal, where the predistortion compensates for a non-linear characteristic of the non-linear filter (30). In this manner, the output signal is as if the non-linear filter were a linear, or substantially liner, filter. The predistortion applied by the predistorter may be fixed or adaptive.

The RF modulator (60) provides the first and second intermediate signals such that the first amplified signal is out-of-phase with each of the second and third amplified signals at an output of an active device within the second amplifier (52) when the amplitude of the baseband signal exceeds a threshold voltage.

摘要： An apparatus and method measures power of channels generated by a multiple-carrier transmitter that upconverts a plurality of baseband signals to a corresponding plurality of assigned carrier frequencies to generate an RF wideband signal. A measurement module's input interface receives a selected baseband signal and a corresponding assigned carrier frequency as well as the RF wideband signal. An undersampling component undersamples the RF wideband signal for a sampling interval to generate a plurality of measured aliased samples. A determination component determines a plurality of determined aliased samples based on the selected baseband signal upconverted to the corresponding assigned carrier frequency. A correlator correlates the plurality of measured aliased samples with the plurality of determined aliased samples to produce a correlation result. A transmit power component determines a transmitted power of the correlation result for a selected channel of the RF wideband signal corresponding to the selected baseband signal as upconverted.
