摘要： Durable stretch fabrics are made and processed from one or more inelastic and one or more elastic fibers, for example, a substantially linear, homogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The fabrics can be made by any process, such as, weaving, knitting, etc., and from any combination of crosslinked, heat-resistant olefin elastic and inelastic ("hard") fibers, for example, cotton and wool. These fabrics exhibit excellent chemical, resistance (for example chlorine or caustic resistance) and durability, that is they retain their shape and feel ("hand") over repeated exposure to processing conditions, such as stone-washing, dye-stripping, PET-dyeing and the like, and service conditions, such as washing, drying, etc.

摘要： A method of analyzing cell wall components based on a hot dilute acid extraction, followed by alcohol precipitation, of plant cellulosic materials such as cotton fibers or wood pulp. The extracts are analyzed by high pH anion exchange chromatography to separate and characterize the carbohydrates. This method extracts a characteristic series of carbohydrate multimers containing galactose, mannose and glucose. The pattern of multimers is indicative of origin of the cellulosic material ( e.g. , the plant species the material comes from) as well as quality and processing state of the material. The alcohol precipitation improves the discriminating powers of the analysis so that the species of origin of plant products can be identified.

摘要： A system for measuring a thermal property of a garment includes a mannequin having a form similar to at least a portion of a mammalian body and adapted to wear the garment. Fluid is circulatable through at least a portion of the mannequin. An outer surface temperature sensor is affixed to the mannequin, and a fluid pressure regulator and temperature controller are located exterior of the mannequin. A meter monitors the energy usage of the controller, which is indicative of the thermal property of the garment. Environmental conditions are controllable, including variable wind speeds and included mannequin motion.

摘要： An apparatus for use in testing a plurality of compositions in parallel. The apparatus includes an upper plate having a plurality of openings extending therethrough to form upper fluid chambers and a lower plate having a plurality of openings extending at least partially therethrough to form cavities. A central plate having a plurality of openings extending therethrough to form central fluid chambers is positioned between the upper and lower plates with the central chambers in alignment with the upper chambers and the cavities. A porous sheet is interposed between the upper and central plates such that an upper surface of the sheet is in contact with fluid within the upper chamber and a lower surface of the sheet is in contact with fluid within the central chamber. The apparatus further includes a flexible membrane positioned between the lower and central plates such that changes in pressure within the cavities or fluid chambers cause deflection of the membrane to force fluid to pass through the porous sheet.
