摘要： The present invention is directed towards yarns of covered high modulus filament materials and fabrics which are formed therefrom. The present invention is intended to provide a composite filamentary material which exhibits the advantages of high modulus materials while providing a means for compensating the diminished properties exhibited by such fibers in the direction normal to molecular chain orientation. The composite filament structure of the present invention is a high modulus filament material covered with bicomponent filaments. The composite filament structure has a first interior layer of high modulus filament material and a second exterior layer of bicomponent fibers, the second exterior layer of bicomponent fibers being covered around the first interior layer of high modulus material along its entire length. The entire surface area of the high modulus material should be covered.

The fabric comprises a paper support surface (A) having spaced diagonal rows (40) of uncompressed paper forming fibers over the surface of paper formed on the papermaking machine. The rows of pockets (B) are separated by diagonal strips (44) of support surface arranged along substantially a single plane. The diagonal strips provide support areas over the width of the paper forming fibers which firmly secure the fiber sheet with the papermaking fabric during paper forming. The strips also produce diagonal rows of compressed paper forming fibers which provide for a more stable paper product.

In known finishing machines for travelling screens, the space between the driven drawing roller and the mating drawing roller in which the working units for finishing the screens are arranged is fairly wide. For this reason, very small, short travelling screens cannot be treated on conventional machines. To obviate the use of a separate finishing machine for these short travelling screens, a third drawing roller which can be adjusted in relation to the mating drawing roller is provided. Short travelling screens can then be treated on these two rollers.
