摘要： An absorbent article with an adhesive flap. The absorbent article has a crotch region, a rear waist region, and a body facing surface positionable adjacent a wearer when the article is in use. The absorbent article includes a backsheet, a liquid permeable topsheet attached to the backsheet, an absorbent structure disposed between said topsheet and said backsheet, and a flap positioned in the rear waist region of the article. The flap has first and second oppositely facing major surfaces wherein the first major surface faces the topsheet and the second major surface forms a portion of the body facing surface of the absorbent article. A substantial portion of the front edge of the flap is a free edge and an adhesive is disposed on the body facing major surface of the flap whereby the adhesive may engage the skin of the wearer when the absorbent article is in use. The adhesive flap thereby prevents the formation of a gap between the absorbent article and the wearer's skin near the rear waist region and, thus, inhibits the leakage of bodily exudates from the absorbent article.

摘要： An integral absorbent article has a longitudinal article length and a lateral article width. The article includes an absorbent composite having first and second longitudinally opposed end regions, laterally opposed side regions, a bodyside surface, an outward surface, and a first longitudinally terminal end edge. The absorbent composite further includes a substantially liquid-impermeable backsheet layer; a liquid permeable topsheet layer; and a retention portion sandwiched between said backsheet and topsheet layers. An extensible outercover is joined to extend over a major portion of said outward surface of said absorbent composite. The extensible outercover is desirably capable of providing a selected elongation when subjected to a tensile force. The extensible outercover is also desirably capable of providing a selected, sustained deformation, when subjected to an applied tensile force and then allowed to relax after a removal of the applied force. In particular aspects, the outercover can provide an elongation of at least about 1 cm when subjected to a tensile force of 30 gmf per inch.

摘要： A distinctive absorbent article includes an absorbent core having multiple absorbent layers, wherein the absorbent layers interact in such a manner which preferentially locates absorbed liquid in an appointed, high saturation wicking layer. The localization of the liquid within this wicking layer increases the potential of this layer to move liquid through capillary action due to the higher saturation level and increased amount of liquid available. The intake capability of the absorbent system is maintained or improved over current systems by keeping a second layer of the absorbent system at low saturation levels through as many insults of the product as possible, while providing optimum intake performance through appropriate control of the composite properties. The low saturation in this layer provides void volume for the incoming insult as well, as a high permeability, thus increasing the intake rate of the absorbent system as a whole, but the structure of the low saturation layer is also balanced to provide an appropriately high level of capillary tension to provide enough control of the liquid to stop leakage from occurring. This low saturation layer is used in addition to a surge material and provides intake functionality in addition to that provided by the surge material. In particular aspects of the invention, the body side layer of the absorbent core does not extend over the entire surface of the overall absorbent core, therefore is not used as the high saturation, wicking layer, but as the intake layer. This arrangement also allows the intake layer to be in direct contact with the incoming liquid, therefore allowing for more immediate access and improved intake function. In additional aspects, at least one primary layer region can have a non-uniform, selectively zoned basis weight distribution. Particular configurations of the at least one primary layer region can be constructed with a target area of such primary layer region having a basis weight which is less than a basis weight of another non-target portion of the primary layer region. Moreover, at least one primary layer region can have a heterogeneous structure. In particular constructions, the at least one primary layer region can include a plurality of two or more sublayers.

摘要： An absorbent article includes a longitudinal length dimension, a lateral cross-dimension, a front waistband portion, a back waistband portion, an intermediate portion which interconnects the front and back waistbard portions, and a pair of laterally opposed elasticized side margins. The article has a backsheet layer, and a liquid permeable topsheet layer connected in superposed relation to the backsheet layer. The pocket section can also include a substantially liquid impermeable pocket barrier layer, and a pocket fabric layer connected in facing relation with the pocket barrier layer. Additionally, a plurality of separate, laterally extending pocket elastic members can be sandwiched between the pocket barrier layer and the pocket fabric layer to thereby provide an elasticized waist pocket composite which is substantially laterally gathered.

摘要： Absorbent articles are provided having a bolstering waist feature. In its preferred embodiment, the bolstering waist feature expands upon exposure to aqueous body liquids effectively tightening the diaper by stretching of the waist regions of the absorbent article. There is a resulting increase in the contractive forces in the band of lateral tension in the waist regions of the absorbent article with a corresponding reduction in the risk of waist leakage. The bolstering waist feature further provides a member resisting longitudinal bending in the waist regions of the absorbent article, particularly adjacent to a wearer's belly. This member can also act as a "strut" resisting the forces, such as those due to gravity, which tend to cause an absorbent article to slide downward. The absorbent article is additionally provided with an absorbent core comprising at least a redistribution component that is preferably capable of redistributing aqueous body liquids from the crotch region to the waist regions of the absorbent article. The redistribution component is in effective fluid communication with the bolstering waist feature.

A piece (26) of flexible material extends transversely across the article between the absorbent body (1) and the top sheet (9) within that region of the top sheet that lies between the two openings (15, 16), this piece of flexible material being fastened to the absorbent body and to the top sheet.
