摘要： The invention provides an article, a method and an apparatus of forming expanded plastic materials in a steam chest mold having out of die draw features. This is achieved by means of a cavity pull system. The cavity pull system allows for the provision of molded features outside the die draw and is designed to operate on a cam type system using two stainless steel rods running at a right angle to one another. A gear mechanism allows molded features, e.g. holes, to be formed at any angle on any part design where enough part geometry exists to accommodate the forming features and in the tool for mechanism components. The invention is advantageously employed in the formation of holes outside the die draw in vertically stacked injection tools for energy absorbers used in vehicle bumper fascias. The provision of out of die draw molded features is useful for fascia component locating or attachment.

摘要： A press bolster adaptor for accommodating different die binders with the same press bolster and fixed pin pattern is provided. The bolster adaptor comprises a base plate, a top plate, and a float plate surrounded by side walls of the base plate. A plurality of lower cushion pins are disposed on the press bolster and move the float plate toward the die binder. A plurality of upper cushion pins are disposed on the float plate and extend through pin holes of the top plate for engaging the die binder in the appropriate locations when the float plate is driven by the lower cushion pins. The upper cushion pins can be rearranged in the pin holes to accommodate new die binders having different designs. Alternatively, the top plate can be replaced with a top plate having a different pin pattern to accommodate a different die binder.

摘要： A system for fabricating a composite article includes a pre-impregnation station for forming a prepreg comprising a reinforcement impregnated with a resin. The prepreg is provided to a blanking station where a blank is cut from the partially cured prepreg and arranged onto a preforming mold. The blank is then transferred to a forming station, and is formed into the composite article using a compression mold. The pre-impregnation station, the blanking station and the forming station are co-located. During forming of the blank into the composite article using the compression mold, additional prepreg is formed in the pre-impregnation station and passes to the blanking station so as to form a next blank for being formed into a next composite article during a subsequent molding cycle. Optionally, the prepreg is partially cured prior to being cut in the blanking station.
