摘要： This invention pertains to a composition and a process for preparing a closed cell alkenyl aromatic polymer foam having enlarged cell size, comprising one or more alkenyl aromatic polymers, one or more substantially random interpolymers, one or more blowing agents having zero ozone depletion potential and optionally one or more co-blowing agents, and optionally, one or more nucleating agents and optionally, one or more other additives. This combination allows the manufacture of closed cell, low density alkenyl aromatic polymer foams of enlarged cell size, when blowing agents of relatively high nucleation potential are employed. When such blowing agents are used with alkenyl aromatic polymers in the absence of the substantially random interpolymers, small cell foams result.

摘要： The present invention pertains to improved alkenyl aromatic polymer foams (and processes for their preparation) having increased heat distortion temperature and improved dimensional stability while maintaining good tensile/tear, creep and environmental dimensional change properties. The closed cell low density alkenyl aromatic polymer foams exhibit increased heat distortion temperature, when substantially random interpolymers of 21 to 65 mol percent styrene are blended in. When these same alkenyl aromatic polymer foams are made without these interpolymers, the heat distortion temperature is not improved.

摘要： Low-density, high service temperature polymer foam is extruded by heating a crystalline polymer resin above its crystalline melt point to melt the resin, selecting a blowing agent combination, combining the blowing agent combination with the resin to create a mixture, cooling the mixture to a temperature approaching a freezing temperature for the mixture, and extruding the foam through a die. The blowing agent combination is made up of 50 to less than 100 mole percent of a first blowing agent having a boiling temperature at STP of greater than 310 DEG K, and more than 0 to 50 mole percent of a second blowing agent having a boiling temperature at STP of less than 310 DEG K. The blowing agent combination has an equilibrium solubility vapor pressure in the polymer of less than 45 atm at the foaming temperature and greater than or equal to 1 atm at the glass transition temperature.

摘要： A heat-insulating foam which is excellent in heat insulation performances and does not suffer from deterioration of the performances even after the lapse of time. The production process comprises expanding a starting mixture containing an epoxide mixture composed of an epoxide compound having a high reactivity with carbon dioxide and another epoxide compound having a low reactivity with carbon dioxide, a catalyst for immobilizing carbon dioxide, a polyisocyanate, a reactive blowing agent which generates carbon dioxide upon reaction with the polyisocyanate, and a polyol composition to thereby form an expanded urethane resin composition having closed cells containing at least carbon dioxide, and then immobilizing the carbon dioxide contained in the cells as a carbonate compound by the reaction thereof with the epoxide mixture in the presence of the immobilization catalyst.

摘要： The present invention provides a method for the semi-continuous production of microcellular foam articles. In a preferred embodiment, a roll of polymer sheet is provided with a gas channelling means interleaved between the layers of polymer. The roll is exposed to a non-reacting gas at elevated pressure for a period of time sufficient to achieve a desired concentration of gas within the polymer. The saturated polymer sheet is then separated from the gas channelling means and bubble nucleation and growth is initiated by heating the polymer sheet. After foaming, bubble nucleation and growth is quenched by cooling the foamed polymer sheet.

摘要： This invention relates to thermoset, thermal insulating panel, pour-in-place and spray foams having desirable and unexpectedly low thermal conductivity, and to compositions, method and systems which use and/or are used to make such foams comprising: (a) providing thermosetting foam forming component and a blowing agent for forming predominantly closed cells in the foam, wherein the blowing agent comprises: (i) cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336mzzm(Z)) and water, with the HFO-1336mzzm(Z) and water in the blowing agent together comprising at least about 50% by weight of the total of all components in the blowing agent and (ii) the weight ratio of HFO-1336mzzm(Z) to water in the blowing agent is from about 90: 10 to less than 98:2 and (b) forming foam from said provided foamable composition.
