Additionally, the invention is related to a holder for a medicine container. According to the present invention, a medicine container is provided comprising a medicine compartment and a control compartment, wherein the control compartment is provided with message means which provide a continuous taking message corresponding to a predetermined medicine taking schedule, said medicine container further comprising means for ceasing the taking message in response to an action of the user which is focused on taking a medicine. The medicine container according to the present invention is- characterized in that the medicine compartment and the control compartment are separate structures that are releasably connected to each other, and in that said action of the user comprises separating the medicine compartment and the control compartment. Further, the present invention provides a holder for this medicine container.

Information regarding a method of calculating a next take time is received. It is determined if an identifier field on the smart memory is empty and, if empty, the unique identifier is written onto the smart memory. If not empty, it is determined if the identifier in the identifier field is not the unique identifier and if not then exiting. On the other hand, if the unique identifier is present in the identifier field, then calculating the next take time; storing a next take time; and prompting at the next take time. The time on the clock is stored as a take time. In addition, a subject diary form is displayed and subject information in regard to subject diary form is stored.

摘要： A device (40) is disclosed which enhances the rate at which insulin deposited on a patient's lungs migrates into the patient's circulatory system. The device includes a means for aerosolizing a formulation (5) comprised of insulin, which formulation may be a dry powder formulation, a formulation containing a low boiling point propellant, but is preferably a liquid formulation containing no propellant. After areosolizing the formulation the patient inhales the aerosolized formulation and insulin is deposited on the patient's lungs. The patient may then resume normal breathing. The device then prompts the patient to inhale maximally. At this point a timing device (26) may activate which times the patient is to hold the patient's breath for a short time. Thereafter, the device prompts the patient to exhale the forced vital capacity of the lungs. The inhale/exhale maneuver prompted by the device has been found to enhance the rate at which insulin deposited on the lungs enters the circulatory system. Thereby, the device enhances the rate at which insulin can decrease the patient's glucose level.

摘要： A method for treating a patient suffering from diabetes mellitus comprising a programmed, portable, hand-held device and formulations used in such treatment methodology is disclosed. The programmed device is loaded with a container which includes a formulation comprised of insulin dispersed in a suitable propellant such as a low boiling point propellant. Insulin is administered when the patient inspiratory flow exceeds a preset threshold. The airflow is measured and when a threshold amount of airflow is achieved, the valve opening means is actuated and a controlled amount of insulin is released from the container. The device includes a microprocessor. The microprocessor is programmed to control the amount of insulin released, based on the particular needs of the patient. The device is electronically connectable to a device which measures serum glucose level and can adjust insulin release amounts based on measured glucose levels.
