摘要： A heater assembly is shown and described herein. The heater assembly may comprise a heating element and a removable post. The post is electrically connected with the heating element. Electrical contacts of the post and heating element are protected from an external atmosphere to avoid or reduce corrosion of the electrical contacts. The post can include a hollow core or internal-post. The internal-post can be supplied with a purge gas. When the post and the heating element are connected, gaskets can provide seals that separate the electrical contacts from the external atmosphere.

摘要： An article dispensing apparatus includes a carousel and a dispensing face including a dispensing orifice through which the articles are dispensed. The carousel includes plural holding sections for holding the articles to be dispensed and is rotationally movable. A controller controls an actuating unit to apply a force to the carousel to cause the carousel to move rotationally relative to the dispensing face when an instruction to dispense an article is received. When the carousel is moved relatively to the dispensing face so that one of its holding sections having an article therein is aligned with the dispensing orifice, the article is allowed to be dispensed through the dispensing orifice. A detector can detect when an article is within one of the holding sections aligned with the dispensing orifice and when the article is no longer within the one of the holding sections aligned with the dispensing orifice.

摘要： Devices, packaging and methodology for efficiently and repeatably creating aerosolized bursts of an insulin containing formulation are disclosed. Devices are hand-held, self-contained units which are automatically actuated at the same release point in a patient's inspiratory flow cycle. The release point is automatically determined either mechanically or, more preferably calculated by a microprocessor which receives data from a sensor making it possible to determine inspiratory flow rate and inspiratory volume. Actuation of the device forces insulin formulation through a porous membrane (3) of the container (1) which membrane has pores having a diameter in the range of about 0.25 to 3.0 microns, preferably 0.25 to 1.5 microns.

摘要： A dispensing device and method of operating said device for use in studying a consumable unit used by a clinical study participant are provided. The device comprises a housing with a delivery aperture and a compartment configured to store an unconsumed consumable unit therein. The device further includes a dispensing mechanism located within the housing, configured to release the stored unconsumed consumable unit to the clinical study participant via the delivery aperture upon verifying the identity of the clinical study participant, and a controller configured to interface with the dispensing mechanism and the user input device. A user input device, configured to receive input from the clinical study participant corresponding to identification information relating to the clinical study participant, is also included and is further configured to receive input from the clinical study participant in response to one or more questionnaires relating to consumption of the consumable unit.
