    • A digital mobile communication system comprises a mobile station (MS) with a facsimile adapter (2), a first telefax terminal (1) connected to the adapter, a mobile network (BSS, MSC), an interworking unit (32) with a second facsimile adapter (33). A high-speedtransparent rate-adapted facsimile connection is set up between the telefax terminals. The number of parallel traffic channels (ch0-chn) allocated to the high-speed data connection is such that the maximum data rate of the data connection is higher than the allowed maximum data rate of the telefax terminals (1, 10). The telefax terminals may negotiate the facsimile data rate. The second facsimile adapter (33) monitors the negociation and selects, on the basis of the negociated facsimile data rate, the most effective channel coding available for the data connection.

    • The invention relates to a digital mobile communication system and a method for high-speed data transmission in a digital mobile communication system. The mobile network allocates two or more parallel traffic channels to a high-speed data signal which requires a transmission rate that exceeds the maximum transmission rate of one traffic channel. The high-speed data signal is packed into transmission frames which contain a fixed number N of information bits. The number of the information bits is such that the data rate of the frame is fixed and corresponds to a standard rate adaptation of a traffic channel in the mobile comunication system, for example 9.6 Kbps. Among these information bits of the transmission frame, a variable number of bits N1 which is dependent on the data rate of the high-speed data signal is employed for the transmission of the user data. From the remaining "free" information bits of the frame, n bits are control bits which indicate the number N1 of the user data bits in the frame. The remaing k information bits are stuff bits. By means of the invention, the transmission rate of the user data in the transmission frames may vary between 0 and a preset maximum value.

    • The invention relates to a wireless local loop system comprising base stations and an access network node which connects the cordless terminal equipments (T) to the exchange of the fixed network. The air interface between the cordless terminal equipment and the base station (2, 3) is mainly in accordance with the GSM mobile system, whereupon at least one time slot (TN0) of a frame having a carrier that is the carrier (c0) of signalling is a time slot of a control channel (FCCH, SCH, BCCH, CCCH), in which time slot the base station transmits, with constant power, control information intended for the cordless terminal equipments. • In a method according to one intelligent network recommendation, when B subscriber has hung up the phone, a Service Switching Point (SSP) sends a message to a Service Control Point (SCP) about the hanging up. The SCP responds with a request to disconnect the B leg. A separate request increases unnecessary signalling. In another known method, after B subscriber has hung up, a timer is started and the B leg is disconnected only after a set period of time. This waiting time is annoying to A subscriber, especially when there are many calls to be made. In the method according to the invention, A subscriber can make a continuing call without waiting or without causing unnecessary signalling so that after a Service Control Function (SCF) receives information about the break off of the call, it sends a message to a Service Switching Function (SSF) containing a request to collect the dialling by A subscriber relating to a new B subscriber. The Service Switching Function (SSF) directs the telephone network to disconnect the connection to B subscriber and create a connection to a new B subscriber.

    • Charging criteria in a mobile telephone network may be improved by choosing one cell or a group of several cells of the mobile telephone network as a group of special cells. The cells of the group may be located in the areas of different MSC's. When a call is being established, a service control point SCP located in an intelligent network analyses whether the location cell of a calling subscriber and that of a called subscriber belong to the group of special cells. Subscriber numbers of the subscribers may also be taken into account. The service control point SCP then applies a special charging criterion determined for the group. In a case where the location cell of the calling subscriber and that of the called subscriber are located in separate MSC areas (MSC1/SSP1, MSC2/SSP2), the information on the location cell of the called subscriber is transmitted to the service control point (SCP1) connected to the mobile switching centre (MSC1/SSP1) of the calling subscriber either directly or in a message in accordance with signalling used between MSC's.
