    • A system (42) and method for controlling at least one hydraulic actuator (12A-12C) of a hydraulic system (42) includes a flow rate measurement of a hydraulic fluid flow traveling into and out of a cavity (30, 32) of the hydraulic actuator (12, 12A-12C). The flow rate is used to calculate piston information corresponding to a position, velocity, acceleration, and/or direction of movement of a piston (20, 20A-20C) of the hydraulic actuator (12, 12A-12C). The piston information can then be provided to an output device (60) to aid in the control of the hydraulic actuator. Alternatively, the piston information can be compared to a reference signal relating to a desired position, velocity, acceleration, and/or direction of movement of the piston (20, 20A-20C) to produce a control signal (48), which can be used to adjust the hydraulic fluid flow and provide the desired actuation of the piston (20, 20A-20C).

    • The invention relates to a flow measuring device wherein an upstream measuring tube is connected provided with a plurality of probes (1) which dip slightly into the flow. A plurality of pressure-measuring openings (2) are formed at the surface of each probe (1). The entire measuring values thereof are processed in a common neuronal network. Different disruptions of the calibration flow are generated during calibration upstream from the measuring device. The distance between the points of disruption and the flow measuring device is not large enough to enable an unhindered full flow. The different disruptions generate different patterns of measuring values wherewith the neuronal network can be trained. When in operation, the neuronal network recognizes the various forms of disruptions from the different pattersn of measuring values allocating the appropriate flow correction thereto. The disruption is compensated by means of said correction.
