摘要： The present invention describes a blade assembly for use with side-sealing and lap-sealing machines, which are used to seal thermoplastic film. Briefly, the cutting element is oval in shape, and has its entire outer edge profiled. This provides four distinct cutting surfaces, depending on the mounting orientation of the cutting element in the machine. This cutting element is held against a heating block, and its temperature is continuously monitored by' a temperature sensor. The sensor is spring-loaded to insure solid contact with the cutting element, and thus, accurate temperature measurements. This entire assembly is then encased in insulation. Additionally, the cutting element is mounted on an adjustable platform, which permits vertical adjustments relative to the film. Thus, the specific portion of the cutting element which actually engages the film can be adjusted to improve the cutting quality or further extend the useful life of the cutting element.

A force is applied to the horn, so as to urge the horn toward the anvil. A deformable stop (718) is positioned at a location, such that application of the urging force causes a member (716) operatively connected to the horn to abut the deformable stop, and to deform the stop. The urging force is iteratively adjusted during operation of the horn, so as to adjust the extent of the deformation of the deformable stop, and to maintain the gap between the horn and the anvil substantially constant.

摘要： The invention relates to a device which is used for the heat-sealing of a thermoplastic synthetic film to a thermoplastic synthetic container. The inventive device comprises at least one thermal electrode (11) which is made from a material with high thermal conductivity. The aforementioned electrode is equipped with a metal section (30) having electrical connection terminals (31) at the ends thereof. A heat flux sensor (32) comprising two electrical connections (33) is also provided, and the lower face thereof is fixed mechanically to the upper part of the above-mentioned section (30). 摘要： An improved carpet seaming electric iron of the kind used for making carpet face seams with hot melt adhesive tapes is disclosed. Improved heat transfer and control is achieved by reducing the thermal mass of the iron baseplate (10), and by providing a raised channel (32), integral with the top surface (56) of the baseplate, for mounting the heating element (40) to efficiently transmit the heat generated by the heating element through the baseplate. A temperature control switch (44) having a sensor is provided for sensing the temperature of the baseplate at the top surface and for controlling the flow of current to the heating element to return the baseplate to a desired temperature set by the operator. A heat shield (12) is provided to protect the operator and carpet backings. Lower temperatures at the surface of the heat shield are obtained by using an insulating gasket (42) to eliminate any direct contact between the heat shield and the baseplate, by using brackets and fasteners (48) which do not conduct heat well to attach the heat shield to the baseplate and by providing the heat shield with a plurality of air inlets (20) around the bottom of the heat shield and one or more air outlets (70) at the top of the heat shield to permit air to circulate through the space between the heat shield and the baseplate. When the air is warmed by the baseplate, it rises through the air outlet thus keeping the heat shield cool. A handle (14) which is nonconductive to heat is provided to enable the iron to be manipulated by an operator. This combination provides a lighter carpet seaming iron with excellent thermal control.

摘要： A cabinet for a refrigerator is formed from a twin sheet thermoformed panel (1) divided into a plurality of wall sections (8, 9, 10) by seams (6) where the twin sheets (2, 3) contact. The panel is folded to form the rear (10) and two side walls (8, 9) of a refrigerator cabinet, and top end cap and a base plinth are fitted to retain the walls in position. Refrigeration system components are carried on the base plinth. The walls (8, 9) and back (10) are secured by having their upper and lower edges (25, 30) fitted within peripheral channels (28, 29) on the top end cap (20) and the base plinth (21). Additionally they may be further secured by fusing contacting portions (65, 76) of the inner sheet of the panel in the region adjacent folded seams (6). The panel is preferably filled with rigid insulating foam while still supported on the thermoforming mould. The seams (6) are preferably provided on the back face (61) of the cabinet, spaced from the corners between side and rear faces, providing improved aesthetics with the fold lines hidden. An improved heater for softening seams between wall sections is disclosed.
