    • System and method embodiments are provided for signaling reference signals and Channel State Information (CSI) feedback for wireless communications. An embodiment method implemented by a user equipment (UE) for wireless communications measurements and CSI feedback includes receiving, from a network, at least one of a first index that indicates a corresponding non-zero-power CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) resource, a second index that indicates a corresponding zero-power CSI-RS resource, a third index that indicates a corresponding CSI-RS resource for interference measurement, and a fourth index that indicates a corresponding channel quality indicator (CQI) report configuration. The method also includes receiving, from the network, at least one of a fifth index that indicates a corresponding periodic CQI report in accordance with the CQI report configuration indicated by the fourth index, and a sixth index that indicates a corresponding aperiodic CQI report in accordance with the CQI report configuration indicated by the fourth index.

    • The disclosure relates to technology for communicating data and control information on an uplink channel in a wireless communication system. A frame is constructed to communicate symbols between a base station and user equipment, and zones are configured for an uplink channel in an uplink subframe using a signaling message. A first zone in the uplink channel is configured as a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) for transmission of control information and a second zone is configured as a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for transmission of data information. The PUCCH zone configuration is transmitted to the user equipment by the base station, control information is received by the base station as uplink control information (UCI) on the PUCCH resource using a single carrier modulation, such as SC-FDMA, and the data is received at the base station on the PUSCH resource using a multicarrier modulation, such as OFDM.

    • A system and method of subframe configuration in licensed-assisted access using long-term evolution (LAA-LTE) with carrier aggregation (CA). A wireless device such as an eNodeB (eNB) may transmit control information in a subframe from a secondary cell (SCell) in downlink control information (DCI) to a user equipment (UE). The SCell may operate in an unlicensed band. The control information may indicate at least one of a non-ending subframe in a data burst, an ending subframe, and a duration of the ending subframe. The duration may be one of a predefined number of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol durations, and the ending subframe may be a partial or full subframe. A partial ending subframe may use a time slot structure in a time division duplexing (TDD) scheme, e.g., downlink pilot time slots (DwPTS). The eNB may then transmit to the UE data in the subframe according to the control information.
