    • A process for steam cracking liquid hydrocarbon feedstocks containing synthetic crude oil comprises i) hydroprocessing a wide boiling range aliquot containing a) normally liquid hydrocarbon portion substantially free of resids and b) thermally cracked hydrocarbon liquid, boiling in a range from 600° to 1050°F, to provide a synthetic crude oil substantially free of resids; ii) adding to the synthetic crude oil a normally liquid hydrocarbon component boiling in a range from 100° to 1050°F; and iii) cracking the mixture resulting from ii) in a cracker furnace comprising a radiant coil outlet to provide a cracked effluent, wherein the cracking is carried out under conditions sufficient to effect a radiant coil outlet temperature which is greater than the optimum radiant coil outlet temperature for cracking the synthetic crude oil separately. A method for upgrading synthetic crude for use in cracking is also provided, as well as a feedstock for cracking.

    • A winch (1) particularly suitable as a yacht sheet line winch. In traditional manner the winch (1) preferably incorporates a cylindrically shaped drum (2) having a shoulder lower end section (2a), in use, the drum (2) being intended to be rotated, such as by handle (10), about a substantially vertically disposed axis. Longitudinal or axially extending recesses (3) are incorporated at radially spaced apart intervals about the drum (2) with the land sections (4a) therebetween maintaining the radius of curvature of the drum (2). The recesses (3) provide additional frictional grip on a sheet line (8) retained thereon. Preferably the recesses (3) terminate in adjacent spaced relationship to a shoulder end (2a) to provide a recess free zone (6). The recesses (3) are configured to provide an obtuse angle between a face (4) of the drum (2) and the adjacent intersection face (5) of a recess (3) this "transition" angle being identified as angle "X" on the accompanying drawings. Preferably both the depth and width of the recesses (3) and the diameter of the drum increase toward a top of the drum (2). This geometry of the recess (3) configuration and layout on a drum (2) tends to spread the frictionnally forces provided thereby away from a first turn (7) of sheet line (8) on the drum (2).
