摘要： Embodiments of the invention include devices and methods for implanting a vertebral body spacer. A lateral surgical approach is contemplated with some disclosed procedures. Instruments of some embodiments are insertable into a disc space to achieve distraction, to determine a desired disc space height, and to select a corresponding implant. An intervertebral fusion implant (301) for lateral approach is disclosed having a convexly curved anterior sidewall (310) and convexly curved upper and lower surfaces (303, 305). The implant has a rounded leading end portion (307) for insertion into a collapsed disc space.

摘要： Abstract An artificial spinal (100) joint for creating at least a portion of a coupling between a superior vertebra and an inferior vertebra comprises an inferior arthroplasty half (104) . The inferior arthroplasty half comprises an inferior articulating component (112) for placement in an intervertebral disc space between the superior and inferior vertebrae, a first posterior arm, and a first bridge (116) component coupled between the inferior articulating component and the first posterior arm. The artificial spinal joint further includes a superior arthroplasty half (102). The superior arthroplasty half comprises a superior articulating component (106) for placement in an intervertebral disc space between the superior and inferior vertebrae, a second posterior am, and a second bridge (110) component coupled between the superior articulating component and the second posterior arm.
