Gemäß der Erfindung kann die in der zweiten Waschstufe (19) anfallende saure Waschlösung über eine Leitung (17) in die erste Waschstufe (16) zurückgeführt und dort als die erste schwach saure Waschlösung verwendet werden. Der ersten Waschstufe (16) kann außerdem eine Vorwäsche (11) vorgeschaltet sein, in der ein wesentlicher Anteil des Staubs aus dem Gasstrom ausgewaschen wird.
