The interface surface contains information relating to the computer software and coded data indicative of a signature field relating to the computer software. When the sensing device is placed in an operative position relative to the interface surface, it senses indicating data indicative of the signature field. The sensing device also generates movement data indicative of the sensing device's movement. The indicating data and the movement data are received from the sensing device, and the signature field is identified. Once the signature has been identified, the computer software is operated in reliance on the movement data, and in accordance with instructions associated with the signature field.

摘要： A mailing system includes a computer system having a sender terminal and a receiver terminal and adapted to transmit a mail item from the sender terminal to the receiver terminal. A printer device in the receiver terminal is adapted to print a mail item from the sender terminal in a document including coded data thereon, the coded data including an indication of the identity of the mail item and at least one reference point on the document. A sensing device is arranged to communicate to the computer system indicating data from the sensing device, the indicating data including information regarding the identity of the mail item and at least one action of the sensing device in relation to the document generated by the sensing device using at least some of the coded data, whereby the computer system can generate a second mail item using the indicating data from the sensing device.

摘要： This invention permits any user to access one or more database (12) by using a telephone (1). Upon successful connection, the caller hears a set of instructions from a voice board (4) which the caller responds to by hitting required numbers on the keypad of his touchtone telephone (1) and initiating a search of one or more databases (12), by spelling out a term, phrase, or proper name using the keypad and a coding technique. The system transmits the search request through a microcomputer (5) and modem (11) in the language required by the database (12), establishes telecommunication, downloads data, and either disconnects with the database (12) or enters an intermediate stage of communication. The system then converts the digital data received from the database (12) into electronic speech by a voice board (4) and reads the data to the caller, who can elect to have further data either read or re-typeset and FAXed (9, 10).
