    • A ribbed pipe molding apparatus has a die with a plastic flow passage (15) which carries molten plastic from an extruder to a mold for making the ribbed pipe. The plastic flow passage (15) has a downstream flow region (17) which exits at an acute angle through the external surface of the die. The inner wall (27) of the end region which locates downstream of the outer wall (25) of the flow passage in the downstream flow region (17) of the passage has a transition wall part (43) which is also inclined relative to the exterior surface of the die but which is sloped at a angle less than the main part (31) of the downstream flow region of the passage. The transition wall (43) part of the inner wall (27) shapes the mouth of the passage so as to produce a wedging of the plastic flowing through the passage into the mold (11) for production of the ribs (57) on the pipe.

    • The invention concerns a corrugator for ribbing plastics pipes. The corrugator has two synchronous circulating chains of mould halves, guide means for the mould halves, an input zone in which corresponding mould halves are brought into abutment with each other, a moulding zone in which a central channel which guides the abutting mould halves is located, and an output zone in which the mould halves are separated from each other again. The corrugator also has return guides for the mould halves on the path between the output and input zones, and cooling devices for cooling at least the central channel with a coolant. The corrugator has several hollow-section modules forming the moulding zone. Each module has a central cavity for cooling and two lateral guides. The modules are disposed next to each other in pairs perpendicular to the production direction. The connecting lateral guides of a module pair form a section of the central channel and the outer lateral guides of the module pair form the return guides of this section. Several module pairs are disposed connected one behind the other in the production direction.
