摘要： Methods for manufacturing sheets having a starch-bound matrix reinforced with fibers and optionally including an inorganic mineral filler. Suitable mixtures for forming the sheets are prepared by mixing together (10) water, unmodified and ungelatinized starch granules, a cellulosic ether, fibers, and optionally an inorganic mineral filler in the correct proportions to form a sheet having desired properties. The mixtures are formed into sheets by passing them between one or more sets of heated rollers (40) to form green sheets. The heated rollers (40) cause the cellulosic ether to form a skin on the outer surfaces of the sheet that prevents the starch granules from causing the sheet to adhere to the rollers (40) upon gelation of the starch. The green sheets are passed between heated rollers (50) to gelatinize the starch granules, and then to dry the sheet by removing a substantial portion of the water by evaporation.

摘要： Insulation barriers having a hydraulically settable component are disclosed. Such insulation barriers include laminate insulation barriers that have a highly insulative layer and a structural layer which has a hydraulically settable matrix. The highly insulative layer may include any known insulating material but is usually an inorganic material such as aerogel, xonotlite, a foamed hydraulically settable product, fiberglass, or rock wool. The structural matrix usually includes the reaction products of a hydraulically settable binder and water in combination with a rheology-modifying agent, an inorganic aggregate material, and fibrous materials to increase the strength of the final product. Finely dispersed voids may be incorporated into the hydraulically settable matrix to decrease the density and thermal conductivity of the insulation barrier. A dispersant may be added to improve the workability of the hydraulically settable mixture.

摘要： The present invention relates to a thermal insulator using closed cell expanded perlite. The thermal insulator using closed cell expanded perlite of the present invention comprises: expanded perlite 10 - 84 wt%, including dried and expanded perlite ore particles, having a surface with a closed cell shape, as an active ingredient; a liquid binder 15 - 85 wt%; and a reinforcing fiber 0.25 - 5 wt%. Accordingly, the present invention provides an insulator, which enhances the rigidity of the expanded perlite, minimizes porosity and gaps between the expanded perlite particles, by reducing compression ratio during compression molding, which results in lower density, improves constructability by lowering conductivity, reduces material and energy costs and can reduce the area required for equipment installation by reducing the thickness of the thermal insulator.
