    • The invention includes a system and process that employs contractual bargaining with agent-based computational methods for the dynamic allocation, optimization, and pricing of contingent rights and obligations between multiple counterparties with overlapping interests. The processes employ a dynamic and endogenous hierarchy or tiering of binding incentive compatible contingent strategies, which may include optimal liquidation policies for matched assets and liabilities based upon stochastic volume/price schedule related to statistically non-stationary supply/demand elasticities and order-flow, as well as variations in market microstructure. The invention includes a dynamic open system with distributed stochastic control of strategic interactions among dynamic optimizing agents across random states, wherein the actions of any one affects the joint costs and benefits for all the agents.

    • A system and method for distributing data over a plurality of remote storage nodes. Data are split into segments and each segment is encoded into a number of codeword chunks. None of the codeword chunks contains any of the segments. Each codeword chunk is packaged with at least one encoding parameter and identifier, and metadata are generated for at least one file and for related segments of the at least one file. The metadata contains information to reconstruct from the segments, and information for reconstructing from corresponding packages. Further, metadata are encoded into package(s), and correspond to a respective security level and a protection against storage node failure. A plurality of packages are assigned to remote storage nodes to optimize workload distribution. Each package is transmitted to at least one respective storage node as a function iteratively accessing and retrieving the packages of metadata and file data.

    • In one embodiment, a system wake-up vector points to a native OS wake-up routine. As the native OS awakens from sleep it passes the wake-up message to the appropriate device drivers. A hardware device whose security context to be restored hooks the appropriate driver in order to intercept and handle the wake-up message. In a second embodiment, a system wake-up vector is redirected to a device specific S3 wake-up subroutine that handles a resume from S3 prior to allowing the call of the native OS wake-up vector. This S3 wake-up subroutine challenges a user for authentication credentials or retrieves them from a hardware device. The supplied credentials are used directly or to decrypt an unlock key from an encrypted key in memory. The unlock key would then be used to unlock the hardware device or fed to the native OS for processing by a device driver capable of unlocking the hardware device.

    • The present invention provides a means for secure communication between an electrical utility company and an electricity customer, such that the customer is able to shed one or more loads in response to a load shed command from the utility company. A system server of the customer periodically connects to a utility server of the utility company using a standard computer protocol, such as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The system server sends a request message via the Internet to the utility server. The request message provides data on the total possible load, the present power consumption, and the present load shed state of the electricity customer. The utility server receives the request message and responds to the request message by transmitting to the system server a response message, which includes a load shed command.

    • In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the present invention comprises a system and method for ensuring a desired profit percentage in a business that provides a service for fees. Businesses will know what prices to charge for any profit level desired. Three profit areas can be used to arrive at a service fee; labor, equipment, and inventory. Input of a desired profit will automatically recalculate how billable labor is charged out in each billable labor dollar of revenue. Preferably, electronic sales information is received that represents a sum of fees received for providing the service. Further, electronic inventory cost information is received that represents a cost of goods sold during the course of providing the service. Moreover, electronic billable labor cost information is received that represents a cost of billable labor, and electronic non-billable labor cost information representing cost of non-billable labor. Furthermore and in a preferred embodiment, electronic overhead cost information is preferably received that represents a cost of overhead. An electronic profit percentage value is preferably received that represents a percentage of fees charged for the service to be allocated for profit. Also, a portion of the labor fee charged is calculated to represent billable labor, non billable labor, and overhead.
