    • A hover aircraft employs an air impeller engine having an air channel duct and a rotor with outer ends of its blades fixed to an annular impeller disk that is driven by magnetic induction elements arrayed in the air channel duct. The air-impeller engine is arranged vertically in the aircraft frame to provide vertical thrust for vertical takeoff and landing. Preferably, the air-impeller engine employs dual, coaxial, contra-rotating rotors for increased thrust and gyroscopic stability. An air vane assembly directs a portion of the air thrust output at a desired angle to provide a horizontal thrust component for flight maneuvering or translation movement. The aircraft can employ a single engine in an annular fuselage, two engines on a Iongitudinal fuselage chassis, three engines in a triangular arrangement for forward flight stability, or other multiple engine arrangements in a symmetric, balanced configuration. Other flight control mechanisms may be employed, including sfide winglets, an overhead wing, and/or air rudders or flaps. An integrated flight control system can be used to operate the various flight control mechanisms. Electric power is supplied to the magnetic induction drives by high-capacity lightweight batteries or fuel cells. The 15 hover aircraft is especially well suited for applications requiring VTOL deployment, hover operation for quiet surveillance, maneuvering in close air spaces, and long duration flights for continuous surveillance of ground targets and important facilities requiring constant monitoring.

    • An impulse-type "wave motor" employs a seabed-mounted or supported structure (10) mounting a wave energy absorbing panel (100) on a hinged lever arm (110) for reciprocation motion to obtain optimal absorption of wave energy from wave motion in the sea. For deepwater wavelengths of L, the panel is optimally positioned in a region within L/2 depth from the sea surface. Seawater or brackish water may be desalinated through reverse osmosis membranes to produce water quality for consumption, agricultural, or other uses. The submerged operating environment of the device in a region of one-half the design wavelength provides the maximum available energy flux and forced oscillations. The pump may be of the positive-displacement piston type, plunger type, or multi-staging driver type, or a variable volume pump.

    • A system and method for managing distribution of digital audio content employs vector encoding of audio content representing segments of the audio waveform (1). High frequency vectors are discriminated by their amplitude increment per short traversal times exceeding a predetermined level, and are flagged in the audio data file. A distributor or host ID code is embedded in the audio data file designating the authorized source or host environment (114) for playback of the audio data file. A vector-decoding-enabled player (126) associated with the authorized host is allowed to playback the audio data file with full quality and an unlimited number of times. If the audio data file is copied or downloaded to a new host environment, then the player (127, 115) associated with the new host will detect that the host ID code embedded in the audio data file does not match the new host (122), and will playback only the low frequency vectors of the audio data file and only for a limited number of times. The recipient of the audio data file is required to log-on to an online registration site (124) and pay a license fee in order to obtain a host-ID code for the audio data file matching the current host environment in order to have full usage rights. The system allows multiple users to sample or share copies of the vector-encoded audio data files on peer-to-peer networks without infringing the rights of copyright holders. An improvement of a tight read loop for flattering out noisy input signals (6B) is also provided in the method of vector encoding of the audio waveforms.

    • A probe apparatus for self-administered treatment of prostatitis has a pair of opposing handle bars (12) symmetrical to each other having handle grip ends (10, 11) and connected to a center housing (4) along a common axis, and a probe (1) connected to a front side of the center housing and extending to a probe tip (3). The center housing has a vibrator motor which is mechanically coupled to the probe tip, and is actuated by a switch on one of the handle grip ends. The probe has a swivelable tip actuated by a pair of swivel actuators (6, 7) provided on the handle grip ends. The probe tip has an off-center bulbous or ovoid shape for effecting a sweeping movement over the prostate when a swivel actuator is actuated. The probe and the handle grip ends have approximately the same length and extend in the same direction for more precise manipulation by the patient. The handle bars are connected to the center housing by twist-lock disconnectors (14) to be detachable for storage or packing. The probe apparatus is employed by inserting the probe into the rectum from the rear of the patient, and positioning the probe tip adjacent the colon walls proximate the prostate while manipulating the handle grip ends on each side of the patient. It is employed with the patient in a standing, bent over position, and a mirror is placed on the floor between the patient's feet to provide visual confirmation of the position of the probe. The probe apparatus is effective for prostatitic drainage by manipulating the swivel actuators to sweep over the surface areas of the prostate toward the prostate center in order to drain fluid from the prostate gland and ducts.

When the nut is tightened down on an object on a fastener bolt, the crush-locking lips are forced inwardly and deformed on the threaded shaft of the fastener bolt into the space of the internal relief cut in order to form a permanent lock on the fastener bolt. A user selects preferred and not-preferred faces from a sample of other users' pictures. The system analyzes the features of the preferred and not-preferred faces comparing combinations of features in both categories with features of other users in the database to find users that most match the collective features preferred by the user. The recommended photographs are presented to the user. Data from the user's profile input are analyzed to automatically generate sample photographs from which the user selects his/her preferences. As users are presented photographs after their sample selection, they can continue to select and reject photos allowing the system to learn and refine the combinations of features and better locate those that most conform to a user's most preferred photo images.

    • An ultra-efficient device for converting light into electricity has a dielectric medium, a metallic medium having an array of surface-plasmon-polariton (SPP) resonator cavities formed at nano-scale and distributed below the dielectric-metal interface, each nano-scale resonator cavity having a hollow metal cathode in which a metal anode is disposed, another metallic medium electrically coupled to the anode, and another dielectric medium insulating the anode from the cathode. The cathode is shaped and spaced from the anode so that standing waves of SPP excitations generated by the input light cause quantum field emission of electrons to be rectified as an electrical output. The SPP resonator cavities may be formed in a plurality of sizes to allow full spectrum energy conversion of light input. High energy conversion efficiencies up to a theoretical maximum of 84% can be obtained.
