摘要： A crystalline alpha-chromium oxide where from about 0.05 atom % to about 6 atom % of the chromium atoms in the alpha-chromium oxide lattice are replaced by trivalent cobalt (Co +3 ) atoms is disclosed. Also disclosed is a chromium-containing catalyst composition comprising as a chromium-containing component the crystalline cobalt-substituted alpha-chromium oxide; and a method for preparing a composition comprising the crystalline cobalt-substituted alpha-chromium oxide. The method involves (a) co-precipitating a solid by adding ammonium hydroxide to an aqueous solution of a soluble cobalt salt and a soluble trivalent chromium salt that contains at least three moles of nitrate per mole of chromium in the solution and has a cobalt concentration of from about 0.05 mole % to about 6 mole % of the total concentration of cobalt and chromium in the solution; and after at least three moles of ammonium per mole of chromium in the solution has been added to the solution, (b) collecting the co-precipitated solid formed in (a); (c) drying the collected solid; and (d) calcining the dried solid.Also disclosed is a chromium-containing catalyst composition comprising a chromium-containing component prepared by treating the crystalline cobalt-substituted alpha-chromium oxide with a fluorinating agent; and a process for changing the fluorine distribution (i.e., content and/or arrangement) in a hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon in the presence of a catalyst. The process involves using as the catalyst a composition comprising the crystalline cobalt-substituted alpha-chromium oxide and/or the treated cobalt-substituted alpha-chromium oxide.

摘要： The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of trifluoromethylated derivatives of the formula CF3CCl=CHCH2OC(=O)R, wherein R is unsubstituted or substituted C1 to C6 straight chain or branched alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted C3 to C7 cycloalkyl, unsubstituted or substituted C2 to C12 alkenyl, a benzyl group unsubstituted or substituted with R', a phenyl group unsubstituted or substituted with R'; R' is an unsubstituted or substituted C1 to C6 straight chain or branched alkyl; and wherein where R and/or R' are substituted each is substituted with R', by reaction of HCFC-353 with carboxylic acid salts. The trifluoromethylated derivatives, particularly CF3CCl=CHCH2OC(=O)CH3, are versatile intermediates for the synthesis of a wide variety of trifluoromethylated organic compounds, which find utility as pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, and materials such as liquid crystals.

摘要： A process is disclosed for producing a saturated gem-dichloro chlorofluorocarbon product of the formula CnClaFb, wherein n is 2 to 12, a is 2 to 4, and b is 4 to 24, and wherein a + b equals 2n+2 when the chlorofluorocarbon is acyclic and equals 2n when the chlorofluorocarbon is cyclic, from a starting material of the same formula which has a lesser thermodynamic stability than the saturated gem-dichloro chlorofluorocarbon product. The process involves isomerizing the starting material in the presence of (1) a catalyst of the formula AlZ3, where Z is selected from F, Cl and/or Br (provided that AlZ3 cannot be entirely AlF3) and (2) an effective amount of promoter selected from the group consisting of hexafluoropropene, 2-chloropentafluoropropene, perfluorobutenes, perfluoropentenes, perfluorocyclobutene, 1-chlorocyclobutene, 1,2-dichlorocyclobutene, perfluorocyclopentene, 1-chlorocyclopentene, and 1,2-dichlorocyclopentene, and mixtures thereof, to accelerate production of the saturated gem-dichloro chlorofluorocarbon product. Also disclosed is a process for producing a halohydrocarbon of the formula CnHcCldFb from a gem-dichloro product produced by said isomerization (where c is 1 to 4 and c + d equals a) which involves hydrodechlorinating the gem-dichloro product.

The process comprises (1) activating a micropulverized anhydrous aluminum trichloride which has a surface area of greater than 0.8 m2/g by treating it with at least about 10 g per g of aluminum trichloride of CCl2FCClF2 with agitation; and (2) isomerizing an additional amount of CCl2FCClF2 by (i) mixing said additional amount of CCl2FCClF2 with said activated catalyst with agitation to provide an initial degree of isomerization, and (ii) cooling the mixture of chlorofluorocarbons and catalyst to a temperature of about 20 C with agitation, to provide a product containing CCl3CF3 and less than about 400 ppm of CCl2FCClF2.

The processes proceed through the production of cyclic intermediate that is thereafter readily converted to a desired chloropropane, e.g., via selective pyrolysis. The process may be conducted using starting materials that are readily commercially available and/or that may be reacted safely in standard laboratory equipment so that capital cost savings may be seen. The process does not require the use of catalysts and yet, process conditions less extreme than many conventional processes for the production of chlorinated propenes are suitable, so that raw material and utility cost savings are also possible.
