    • A metallic joist (100) comprising cold-formed top and bottom chords (200), and cold-formed metallic truss web members (300) arranged in a vertical and diagonal fashion shop welded to the chords. End connections, or seats (1000) are each shop welded to the top chord (200) and to one of the webs (300). Each seat (1000) comprises a pair of vertical metallic planes that act as shear plates, welded to and extending outwardly and upwardly of the end portion of the top chord of the joist, and portions extending horizontally either side of the chord and punched with holes for easy field bolting to beams or other supporting elements. Each of the chords (200) comprises a planar base (205) and a pair of legs (210). Each leg (210) comprises a chamfered portion (210a) extending downward and outward from one edge of the base at an acute angle, about 45 degree, for stiffening the longitudinal edges of the base (205) to accommodate axial and moment forces. An upper vertical portion (210b), perpendicular to the base, extends downward from a lower end of the chamfered portion to provide a planar width of material to accommodate axial and moment forces. An inwardly recessed portion (210c) parallel to the base extends towards the chord's center line from a lower end of the upper vertical portion; and an attachment portion (210d) perpendicular to the base, extends downward from an inner end of the inwardly recessed portion. The inventive chord imparts the joist of the present invention with enough strength and stiffness to span up to 100-foot lengths.

    • The present invention provides an improved modular system for constructing a tubular structure. The improved system allows the tubing to be assembled and disassembled in a direction perpendicular to a centerline of the tubing without having to move the tubing along its centerline. The improved system allows the tubing to be positioned at various angles. The system also enables curved tubing to be used. In an embodiment, the structural system includes a hub (12a) and a connector (14) that removably couples to the hub. The connector has a first end that couples to the hub and a second that defines a notch. One of the walls of the notch connects to a flange (16) that may extend in one or two directions from the centerline of the connector. The connector and flange removably couple to one end of an adapter (18), which contains a mating notch, wherein the adapter receives a tube.

    • The inflatable roof (1) according to the present invention comprises a plurality of inflatable arches (2) which can be engaged with the ground below, a cover sheet (9) covering the structure and which can be engaged with the inflatable arches (2), and means (3) adapted to keep the inflatable arches pressurized, which are operatively connected to the inflatable arches. The inflatable roof is characterized in that it comprises a plurality of parallel longitudinal belts (8) spaced apart from one another, in which each longitudinal belt is engaged with each inflatable arch (2) and the free ends are rigidly engaged with the ground below. Moreover, the roof is characterized in that it comprises a plurality of transverse belts (10), each of which being engaged and running along the ends of an inflatable arch, simultaneously being engaged with all the longitudinal belts (8). Thereby, the longitudinal (8) and transverse belts (10) define a weft for supporting the roof, which is comprised between the inflatable arches and the cover sheet, thus integrally covering the structure.
