    • A multi-layered sheet giving a forgery prevention effect by developing different appearances when the upper surface or lower surface is irradiated with an ultraviolet ray. In a first embodiment, fluorescence coloring layers respectively developing different hues are provided on the upper surface side and the lower surface side respectively, a fluorescence coloring layer on the upper surface side only develops a fluorescence color to permit observation from the upper surface when an ultraviolet ray is applied from the upper surface side, and at least a fluorescence coloring layer on the lower surface side develops a color to permit observation from the upper surface when an ultraviolet ray is applied from the lower surface side. In a second embodiment, an opacity in an area extending from the upper surface to a fluorescence coloring layer is not lower than 97 % and that in an area extending from the lower surface to a fluorescence coloring layer is not higher than 96 %, and an ultraviolet radiation from the upper surface does not permit a printed pattern to be observed, whereas an ultraviolet radiation from the lower surface permits the printed pattern to be observed.

    • A method of manufacturing a bearing material, a bearing material and a bearing having the bearing material on a strong backing are described. The method includes the steps of forming a water-based slurry having a solids content comprising 30 to 80 % by volume of a fluoro-polymer, 5 to 30 % by volume of web-forming fibrillated fibres, and 5 to 40 % by volume of filler material selected from at least one of the group comprising: inorganic fibres; inorganic particulate material; metal fibres; metal powders; organic fibres; organic particulate material; and, organic matrix strengthening agents, the web-forming and filler materials being resistant to temepratures above the melting point or curing temperature of the fluoro-polymer; depositing a layer of the slurry on to a substrate so that the water drains from the layer and a deposited layer is formed in which the web-forming fibres form a web containing the fluoro-polymer and the filler material; and, heating the deposited layer to a temperature above the melting point of the fluoro-polymer in order to cure the fluoro-polymer.

    • A process for producing a para-aromatic polyamide paper which comprises impregnating a web prepared by papermaking from a papermaking material comprising as an essential component at least one component selected from the group consisting of pulp, short fibers and stable fibers of a para-aromatic polyamide with or without a particulate polymer of a para-aromatic polyamide with a binder which is a solution consisting of a polar amide solvent having dissolved therein 0.5 % to 10 % by weight of a chloride of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal and 0.5 % to 10 % by weight of a para-aromatic polyamide having an inherent viscosity of 1.0 to 2.5 dl/g. According to the above process, a high performance para-aromatic polyamide paper consisting essentially of a para-aromatic polyamide is obtained. Said paper has agglutinate portions of fibers while keeping the heat resistance and stiffness which are the characteristic features of para-aromatic polyamide and also has such excellent properties that the paper quality is uniform, the breaking length is long and the paper strength is high.
