    • The invention relates to a method for treating a refuse material containing hydrocarbons, especially treating mill scale tails and/or grinding tails, whereby the refuse material, while preferably being moved, is heated by indirect heat supply and is liberated thereby from hydrocarbons, optionally together with other volatile constituents, especially H2O.
