    • A shear seal assembly (80) for sealing between two members (22, 36) having limited relative motion therebetween has an inner sleeve (86), an outer sleeve (88), and an elastomeric member (90) connecting the sleeves (86, 88). The inner sleeve (86) is in a press fit relationship with one of the members (22) and the outer sleeve (88) is in a press fit relationship with the other of the members (36). Thrust members (92, 93) extending radially outwardly along the sides (94, 96, 98, 99) of the seal assembly (80) control distortion thereof and prevent damage thereto. A protective member (93, 100) prevents the ingress of external contaminants and abrasives into the area to be sealed.

    • A system for transporting a highly corrosive liquid solely by pressure differential without the need of mechanical pumps for transporting the corrosive liquid. The system includes a source of gas under pressure (78, 82) and first and second corrosive liquid reservoirs (22, 24) connected in parallel to the source via a valve (80) such that one or the other, but not both, may receive pressurized gas. A valve (20) connects one or the other, but not both, of the reservoirs to a point of use (10) of the corrosive liquid and is specifically designed for connecting the reservoir receiving the pressurized gas to the point of use. A valve (36) receives corrosive liquid from the point of use and directs the same to one or the other, but not both, of the reservoirs, and is specifically designed to provide the corrosive liquid to the reservoir not then receiving pressurized gas from the source. Air displaced from the reservoir receiving the corrosive liquid is directed to a scrubber (72) and then returned to the pressurized gas source for subsequent reuse.

    • In some piston engines a pressurized fluid which is delivered to a main receptor (16) is also delivered to a secondary receptor (18) from which it is directed to cool the pistons. During engine startup and low idle operation such cooling is unnecessary, and further, it is desirable to provide as much fluid flow as possible to the main receptor (16), which is generally the main lubricating manifold (16) of the engine. Herein, delivery of the pressurized fluid to the secondary receptor (18) is prevented until the fluid pressure in the main receptor (16) reaches an initiating value (A). The main receptor (16) thus receives added fluid flow at startup and during low idle operation, while adequate piston cooling is provided at normal operating speeds.
