摘要： The present invention includes a polymer formed by the thermal rearrangement of an ortho-functional polyimide synthesized via chemical imidization with permeation properties for gas separation membranes higher than those synthesized via thermal imidization and a method for forming that polymer having tailored transport properties and different chemical resistance. The present invention also includes a polymer formed by the thermal rearrangement of an ortho- functional polyimide in which a portion of the ortho-position functional group is lost during thermal rearrangement to yield a thermally rearranged polymer with higher permeability than would be seen without the ortho-position group. This ortho-position group can be the result of chemical imidization, or the result of a post-imidization modification reaction.

摘要： The invention relates to blends of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymers and copolymers with sulfonated poly(ether sulfones) (SPES) useful in forming of membranes. The SPES polyelectrolyte is immobilized within the PVDF matrix. These membranes are useful under hydrated conditions, and may find use as membranes in fuel cells, water purification, humidification and battery separators. The invention also relates to a method for producing stable, homogeneous blends of PVDF and SPES, and useful membranes of those blends.

Each of the sidewalls has an inner side surface, an outer side surface, and a plurality of terminal- receiving slots extending from the inner side surface to the outer side surface. Each of the conductive terminals has a fixed section fixed within the corresponding terminal-receiving slot and extending along a transverse direction of the dielectric housing, a resilient section extending from one end of the fixed section, and a solder section extending from the other end of the fixed section and outwardly of the dielectric housing. The resilient section has a contact portion extending into the card-receiving slot.

摘要： Side-chain crystallizable (SCC) polymers are useful in various medical applications. In certain applications, heavy atom containing side-chain crystallizable polymers (HACSCCP's) are particularly useful. An example of a HACSCCP is a polymer that comprises a main chain, a plurality of crystallizable side chains, and a plurality of heavy atoms attached to the polymer. In certain configurations, the heavy atoms are present in an amount that is effective to render the polymer radiopaque. A polymeric material that includes an HACSCCP may be fabricated into a medical device useful for at least partially occluding a body cavity. For example, such a medical device may be an embolotherapy product. A polymeric material that includes a SCC polymer may also be fabricated into other medical devices, such as stents.

摘要： The present invention is directed to ion-conducting, nitrile containing sulfonated polymeric materials formed by the direct polymerization of sulfonated monomers and aromatic nitrile monomers. These nitrile containing sulfonated polymers may be used to form membranes that have application in fuel cell and ion exchange technologies. In particular, the membranes may be used in hydrogen, direct methanol, reformate, and other direct oxidation fuel cells.
