A locating shoulder (15) and an annular groove (16) of constant depth are positioned on opposite sides of the bearing assembly when mounted on the shaft. An eccentric split ring (17) is placed in the groove and is bodily positioned in a recess formed diametrically across the inner race (11). One of two opposed stops (13a, 13b) on opposite sides of the recess engages and cams against an enlarged portion of the ring (17) upon initial relative rotation between the inner race (11) and the shaft (14). The recess is formed by milling a gap across the end of the inner race (11).
