摘要： The invention relates to a method for producing aromatic polycarbonate, including the steps of : (1) transporting a liquid mixture of acetone and bisphenolacetone to a polycarbonate production plant; (2) separating the bisphenolacetone from the acetone; (3) reacting the bisphenolacetone with diphenylcarbonate to produce polycarbonate. Further, the invention relates to a method for storage and/or transport of bisphenolacetone for use in producing aromatic polycarbonate, which involves the addition of such amount of acetone to bisphenolacetone that the molar ratio of acetone to bisphenolacetone in the final liquid mixture to be stored and/or transported is in the range of from 0.5:1 to 15:1.

摘要： The present invention relates to a process for improving the shelf life of a hindered phenol antioxidant comprising the step of intimately mixing the hindered phenol antioxidant with a sulfur-containing peroxide decomposer. The inventors have discovered that mixing the peroxide decomposer with the hindered phenol antioxidant reduces the tendency of hindered phenols to yellow with age. This increases the desirability of the hindered phenol because it will not impart color to polymer systems. The present invention also relates to a composition produced from the process described above, and stabilized compositions and additive packages containing the composition produced from the above-described process.

The aqueous solutions of NaOPP prepared according to the present invention exhibit an absorbance at 400 manometers of at most one-half the absorbance exhibited by untreated solutions after incubation for 72 hours at 44 DEG C and 4 hours under ultraviolet light. The aqueous solution is useful as a concentrate that can be diluted to a desirable antimicrobial concentration level prior to application.

There is also provided a resole and a novolac composition that includes in the manufacture of the resins the use of a stable solution of bisphenolic stillbottoms. Methods for making the resins are also provided. There is further provided a low molecular weight phenolic resin useful in the manufacture of paper laminates, such that the resin exhibits improved paper saturation and reduced phenol emissions during treating when compared to the prior art. There is also provided a laminate composition that results in a paper laminate that exhibits improved flexibility when compared to the prior art.

摘要： A catalyst composition comprising trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (also referred to as triflic acid) and a sufficient quantity of a substance (also referred to as a retarder) to decrease but not eliminate the catalytic activity of the acid is disclosed. Also disclosed, is a method and composition for condensing a hydroxyaryl with a diene by use of the catalyst composition. The method is capable of producing condensates having: a mole ratio of 1 mole of the diene to one mole of the hydroxyaryl; one mole of diene to two moles of the hydroxyaryl as well as higher molecular weight products such as resins by changes in temperature, time of reaction, type and quantity of retarder and other variables.
