    • A valve for selectively permitting a fluid flow between first and second medical implements is disclosed. The valve has a housing with an interface suitable for receiving a connector portion of a first medical device such as a catheter, and a seal made of a flexible material. The seal has a first end in fluid communication with the interface, a second end suitable for receiving the second medical device, and at least one slit in fluid communication with the first end and the second end. The slit defines a restricted fluid flow path and a relatively small interior volume when in an undisturbed state, defines an expanded fluid flow path and a larger interior volume upon the introduction of the second medical instrument into the slit, and retracts to define a restricted flow path and a small interior volume upon the withdrawal of the second medical device from the seal. The slit is constructed such that its upstream end initially is sealed as the second medical device is withdrawn. A fluid occupying the small interior volume of the slit is forced toward the downstream end of the slit.

    • This invention is an improved luer lock receiving septum (34) having a configuration which provides rapid, tight resealing, and yet allows penetration of the septum (34) by the luer tip (32) with a low penetration force. The elongated septum (34) includes an upper portion (36) of enlarged diameter having a target surface, a central slit (54), a central, lower septum extension (40) projecting about the slit (54) below the upper portion (36), into a housing (12) so that following luer insertion there is provided sufficient room for both the laterally displaced extension of the septum (34), the luer taper, and the housing (12) to be received into a conventional luer lock connector (30). The septum (34) is further preferably configured to minimize or eliminate the negative pressure deflection normally associated with the withdrawal of the large diameter luer cannula (32) from an enclosed fluid filled lumen or chamber, by substantially isolating the lumen or chamber from the septum material displacement resultant from luer (30)insertion.

    • This disclosure describes systems and methods for adaptively coupling conduits such as medical tubing to a transcutaneous fixating device or other medical tubing. In some embodiments, an adaptive coupling system for coupling two medical conduits may include a body. The body may include a first opening. The first opening is positioned proximally to a subject. The body may include a second opening. The second opening is positioned distally to the subject. The body may include a fluid gate. In some embodiments, the fluid gate may be configured to control a flow of fluids through the body between the first opening and the second opening. The first opening may be configured to release a first medical conduit, during use, under a first set of loading conditions. In some embodiments, the second opening may be configured to release a second medical conduit, during use, under a second set of loading conditions.
