摘要： A minimaly invasive spacer for positioning between vertebral members. The spacer is adjustable between a first orientation having a reduced size to facilitate insertion between the vertebral members. A second orientation has an enlarged size for contacting the vertebral members. The spacer includes linkages that are attached to a pair of plates. A pull arm is operatively connected to the linkages for adjusting the spacer from the first orientation to the second orientation. A delivery device is attached to the spacer for insertion between the vertebral members. In one embodiment, the delivery device is detachable to be removed from the spacer once positioned between the vertebral members. Method of using the spacer include positioning the spacer between the vertebral members while in the first orientation. The spacer is then enlarged to the second orientation, and the delivery device is removed with only the spacer remaining within the patient.

The blade may include a length measured between an insertion tip and a second side, and a height measured between a superior side that contacts against the C1 vertebral member and an inferior side that contacts against the C2 vertebral member. A leg may be positioned at the second side of the blade. The leg may extend outward below the inferior side of the blade and away from second side of the blade to extend across an exterior of the C2 vertebral member. An aperture is positioned to extend through the implant. The implant may extend through the blade or may extend through a flange that extends from the blade.

A connector is provided including a pair of oppositely positioned branches defining a receptacle structured to receive the post portion. The system also includes an elongate support member defining a passage structured to receive and engage a portion of the connector. As the connector is received in the passage, the branches of the connector move toward one another and force the receptacle toward the closed configuration wherein the connector is fixed relative to the post portion. Other systems, apparatuses and methods for vertebral stabilization are also disclosed.

The device includes a body (11) with a receiving section (20) to receive the elongated member, and an engagement section (40) to engage a support structure, such as a vertebral member.
