    • A method of wireless communication is disclosed, in which a wearable device may determine whether a network operator provides support for bursty communication, and communicate directly through the network operator in the bursty communication in response to the determining the network operator provides the support for bursty communication. The support for bursty communication by the network operator may be either integrated into a telephony application server (TAS) or a wearable application server (WAS) that is a separate entity from the TAS and deployed between the TAS and the wearable device. The bursty communication by the wearable device may include receiving packets in the bursty communication, buffering the received packets, and transmitting or playing out the bursty communication in entirety after all of the packets in the bursty communication have been received. Apparatus corresponding to such method is also disclosed.

    • An access terminal may switch to a different mode of wireless network selection as a result of manual selection of a wireless cell set (e.g., a closed subscriber group) associated with one or more wireless cells. For example, if the user of an access terminal selects a closed subscriber group in a wireless network that is different than the current wireless network, the access terminal may enter a manual mode of wireless network selection, select the wireless network corresponding to the closed subscriber group, and register on a closed subscriber group cell in the selected wireless network. In addition, an access terminal may automatically switch to a different mode of wireless network selection (e.g., the prior mode) upon losing coverage of a wireless cell set. An access terminal may also automatically select a cell of a wireless cell set if the access terminal returns to a cell of the cell set within a defined period of time after losing coverage of the cell set. Furthermore, an access terminal may return to a prior wireless network upon losing coverage of a wireless cell set.

    • Systems, methods, and apparatuses for reducing delays associated with an attachment procedure are disclosed. In accordance with the present disclosure, a user equipment (UE) may initiate an attachment procedure with a network over a non-access stratum (NAS) layer and detect a condition that may delay completion of the attachment. Based on the detection, the UE may determine whether the condition may be resolved before failure in the attachment procedure. If the UE determines that the condition can be resolved before attachment failure, the UE may suspend a timer associated with the attachment procedure at the NAS layer to allow more time for the UE to complete an authentication associated with the attachment. Conversely, if the UE determines that the condition cannot be resolved before attachment failure, the UE may abort the attachment procedure with the network and initiate a fallback attachment procedure with the network via a different base station.
