摘要： This invention relates to a leach-resistant borate preservative for lignocellulosic-based products, providing resistance against insect and fungal attack for use in exterior and ground contact applications. The preservative compositions of this invention may be provided as a high strength liquid concentrate, suitable for transportation, storage and easy on-site dilution, or as a ready-to-use treatment solution. These wood preservative compositions include a borate preservative component and a co-biocidal metal fixative such as copper or zinc. The preservative compositions also contain volatile organic acid, free ammonia and ammonium salts to aid dissolution. Methods for the application of these preservative compositions to wood are also provided.

摘要： The invention provides compositions and methods for preventing and treating osteochondrosis, lameness, and leg weakness by administration of supplemental boron and vitamin C containing compounds to animals and humans. Also provided by this invention are animal feed compositions that are supplemented with boron and vitamin C containing compounds and which have reduced phosphorus content. The invention also provides a method for decreasing the amount of phosphorus excreted by an animal, a method of increasing the efficiency of absorption of phosphorus by an animal, a method of reducing environmental phosphorus pollution by administering supplemental boron and vitamin C to the animal. The invention also provides a method of reducing pre-weaning mortality in an animal by feeding pregnant, nursing or lactating animals by administering supplemental boron and vitamin C containing compounds.

This could provide substantial improvements in the long term durability of wood-plastic composites and other organic materials which are used in exterior environments and subject to ultra-violet exposure from the sun.
