    • A mill cutting structure is differently configured in three zones. Those zones are the center, the outer edge and in between. At the center has highly wear resistant material that has good temperature bond strength and high impact resistance. The outer periphery can have a material that is highly resistant to wear and impact. In between can be inserts such as used in the Metal Muncher® mills using sintered carbide shapes that resist tracking and create a chipping rather than a grinding action. The shapes should have high edge retention capability and shapes such as a double sided pyramid can be used. The wear patterns of prior designs are addressed to allow longer and faster milling of the fish.

    • Cutting elements for downhole cutting tools comprise a top surface having a cutting surface portion and a cutting profile asymmetrically disposed across the top surface. The cutting elements comprise first and second longitudinal side surfaces and first and second lateral side surfaces, each having a respective cross-section. The cross-section of one of the longitudinal side surfaces can have one beveled portion and the cross-sections of the other longitudinal side surface and the first and second lateral side surfaces can have two beveled portions. A cutting end of a downhole cutting tool comprises two cutting elements disposed facing each another with a portion of the cutting surface portion of a first cutting element being disposed opposite the cutting profile of the second cutting element and the cutting surface portion of the second cutting element being disposed opposite the cutting profile of the first cutting element.

    • A cutting assembly for external conduits on a tubing string or main tubular conduit features at least one breakaway in the string that can be severed with a tensile force. Preferably each external conduit is run through a cutter housing that is integral with a passage having threaded end connections. While in some scenarios it is preferred that the main tubular conduit is severed below the cutting assembly thus allowing the cutting apparatus to be retrieved with the upper portions of the cut main tubular conduit and external longitudinal member(s), in other circumstances it may be desired that the main tubular conduit is severed above the cutting assembly allowing the cutting apparatus to be left "downhole" with the lower portion of the cut main tubular conduit and the BHA. The cutter knife assembly chambers or channels can be in banks that are axially spaced using bypass channels to access lower banks. The cutter knife assembly and associated channels can be mirror images so that the external conduits can be cut regardless of where the tubing string is severed and one or more conduits can be cut with a single cutter assembly.

    • An eductor sub is used as a portion of a downhole debris removal apparatus. It features an eductor outlet port that is selectively closed for run in to allow flow pumped through a tubing string to all go to the lower end of the debris removal tool to fluidize the debris and help prevent the tool from getting stuck on the way to the desired depth. When the desired depth is reached a ball lands on a seat that is connected to a sleeve that is displaced to move the sleeve away from the eductor outlet so that future flow coming down the casing string will create a reduced pressure within the tool to draw some of the exiting flow after the eductor exit in a downhole direction along an annular space to the debris removal tool entrance for debris removal.
