    • In one embodiment, a video coder for processing video data includes a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to downsample at least prediction mode information of a reference layer block. In addition, the processor is configured to predict at least one of an enhancement layer block or prediction mode information of the enhancement layer block based at least on the prediction mode information of the reference layer block before the processor downsamples the prediction mode information of the reference layer block. The memory is configured to store the prediction mode information of the reference layer block. The prediction mode information of the reference layer block, for example, includes an inter-prediction mode, an intra -prediction mode or a motion vector of the reference layer block.

    • In one aspect, an apparatus (600) for charging a device includes a charger and a controller (610). The charger includes a capacitance (CI, C2) and has a charger input and a charger output. The charger input receives an AC input voltage waveform, and the charger output outputs an output voltage waveform and an output current waveform. The controller (610) determines whether an amplitude of the output voltage waveform is within a voltage range. In response to determining that the amplitude of the output voltage waveform is within the voltage range, the controller directs an amplitude of the output current waveform to be substantially proportional to an amplitude of the AC input voltage waveform. In response to determining that the amplitude of the output voltage waveform is not within the voltage range, the controller increases the capacitance (CI, C2) of the charger to adjust the amplitude of the output voltage waveform to be within the voltage range.

    • Systems and methods for intra prediction video coding are described herein. In one aspect, an apparatus includes a processor and a memory. The processor divides a video block into a plurality of video sub-blocks having a first size. The video block includes video units and has an intra prediction mode, and each video sub-block of the plurality of video sub- blocks includes at least a non-zero integer number of video units of the video block. The processor further determines prediction variables for a first video sub-block of the plurality of video sub-blocks based on the intra prediction mode of the video block and determines a predicted video unit for each video unit of the first video sub-block based on the intra prediction mode of the video block and the prediction variables for the first video sub-block. The memory stores the predicted video units.

    • This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for providing illumination. In one aspect, a light guide can be configured to propagate light received from a light source. The light can be propagated by total internal reflection (TIR) within the light guide. The light guide can include an output surface configured to output light and one or more light extraction elements, which are configured to redirect the light propagating in the light guide so that the light exits the light guide through the output surface. The light guide can have tapered side walls that are configured to at least partially collimate the light that is to exit out of the output surface. In some implementations, the light guide can be used to provide illumination for display devices, other electromechanical systems, or for lighting a room or task area.
