摘要： Techniques are disclosed for stitching images printed by a multi-head printer in a manner that is relatively insensitive to misregistration of the image segments. When a pair of overlapping print heads print a pair of adjacent image segments which meet in a stitching region (608), printing at each location in the stitching region (608) is accomplished by both print heads with a weighting (614, 624) that depends on the location being printed within the stitching region. In one embodiment, for example, the output (634, 644) of each print head is weighted by a linear function of horizontal pixel position. Techniques are also disclosed for selecting screening patterns for use when stitching is performed with variable-dot printers. Such screening patterns are selected to minimize variations in density that may arise as the result of cross-web and/or down-web misregistration.

摘要： A microdeposition apparatus (10) and method according to the invention includes an interchangeable microdeposition head (16) for depositing fluid manufacturing material on a substruate to form microstructures. The apparatus (10) includes at least one of a plurality of microdeposition heads mounted on a head support and held above a substrate, which is mounted on a stage (12) in controlled alignment with the microdeposition head (16). The control system coordinates the relative movement of the stage and microdeposition head (16) while the fluid manufacturing material is discharged from the microdeposition head. A mounting bracket and computer system enable various microdeposition heads (16) to be interchangeably used with the microdeposition apparatus (10).

Printing systems herein may include a first printhead and a second printhead, wherein a substrate advances under the first and second printheads. The first printed zone and the second printed zone together define a printed region. The first and second printed zones may be coterminous along respective edges to define a print stitch line extending in the machine direction. The substrate may then be manipulated proximate the print stitch line during a manufacturing process. Positioning the print stitch line proximate a region subject to manipulation may help hide and/or obscure the print stitch line from view. In turn, noticeable visible results of imprecise and/or inconsistent printing operations may be reduced.
