    • Method and apparatus in the manufacture of prefabricated concrete wall elements for the application of a coating and/or ornamentation thereon in the form of bodies, plates or the like (9) of brick, ceramic, mosaic or similar material. The inventive method is primarily characterized in that the wall elements are cast in moulds leaving the element surface to be coated or decorated fully exposed and into which moulds fresh concrete is added. The coating/ornamental material, arranged in a pattern (10) designed for the wall elements, is however applied in a gripper (1) and positioned therein while exposing the portions (11) intended for embedment in the wall elements fully exposed, whereafter these exposed portions of the coating/ornamental material are inserted with the use of the gripper down to the predetermined anchoring depth in the uncured concrete mass filling the wall element moulds. The positioning of the coating/ornamental material is then disengaged from the gripper, which is removed from the moulds wherein the concrete is left to harden to a degree sufficient for a safe embedment of the coating/ornamental material. The distinguishing feature of an apparatus carried out in accordance with the invention is the presence of a gripper to be utilized for the application of the coating/ornamental material, which is releasably retained on a working area (2) while forming a pattern designed for the wall elements and with the portions to be embedded in said elements fully exposed.
