    • A downhole motor-pump assembly disposed within a tubular string includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor has a first rotor portion and a second rotor portion. The first rotor portion has a first geometrical shape and the second rotor portion has a second geometrical shape. The first geometrical shape differs from the second geometrical shape. The stator has a first stator section and a second stator section. The first stator section is spaced from the second stator section by a gapped region. The first rotor portion is located within the first stator section and the second rotor potion is located within the second stator section. The differing geometry causes a difference in displacement in the first and second sections per revolution of the rotor. Therefore the difference in displacement must be made up and is induced into the tool at the gap or drillings between sections, and this additional volume is effectively pumped.

    • A drive system housing is provided with an engagement-disengagement mechanism that is advantageous to connect (make up) or disconnect (break out) drill bit or other device connection from the drive system housing. The drive system housing comprises: an upper housing and a lower housing connected thereto by a threaded connection provided at a first end of the lower housing, wherein the upper and the lower housing define an axis; and a plurality of castellations projecting substantially axially from a second end of the lower housing and circumferentially spaced around the axis, wherein at least partially unscrewing the threaded connection is configured to cause axial displacement of the lower housing towards a drive shaft which is coaxially positioned within the upper and the lower housing,and wherein the axial displacement of the lower housing towards the drive shaft is configured to compel the castellations of the lower housing into mating engagement with complementary castellations provided at the drive shaft.

    • A clamping assembly may include a split-ring device and bearing for coupling to a driveshaft. The split-ring device may comprise split-ring shells having protrusions on an interior radial surface for positioning in grooves adjacent to radial protrusions on the driveshaft. In some aspects, the split-ring shells may include tabs corresponding to cavities on a first bearing for coupling the split-ring shell to the first bearing. In other aspects, the split-ring shells may be sized to create one or more gaps when positioned on the driveshaft. The first bearing may include one or more corresponding tabs for positioning in the one or more gaps created by the split-ring shells. A second bearing may be threadably coupled to the first bearing to suppress the axial and rotational movement of the clamping assembly separate from the driveshaft.
