摘要： A reclosable bag is filled through an opening (14) defined between a back side (8') of a folded closure strip (5) secured to an inner surface of the bag on one side (9) of the bag opening, and an inner surface of the other side (10) of the bag opening. The filled bag is sealed by joining the back side (8') of the closure strip to the opposing bag wall (10) at a point (8) outboard of the closure strip and bag opening. The bag is later opened by breaking through a frangible section (7) in a folded portion of the closure strip, between mating bands (46, 48) of hooks and loops. In some cases, an extension (92, 9a, 10a) of one side of the bag forms a handle (4) or a fitment; in particular, funnels (80) can be formed from integral extensions of the closure strip (5), integral extensions of the bag-making material, or from a discrete preform which is joined to the construction.

摘要： Touch fasteners useful for bags, packaging and other products as well as novel manufacturing of products incorporating such fasteners are described. A composite touch fastener has an elongated, sheet-form resin substrate, a fibrous loop strip (104) partially encapsulated in, or otherwise permanently attached to, resin of the substrate, and an array of loop-engageable fastener elements (106) integrally molded with resin of the substrate. The loop strip forms a discrete band of hook-engageable, free-standing loops along the length of the substrate and has a substantially constant fiber density across its width. The array of fastener elements is arranged in a discrete band of fastener elements extending longitudinally along the substrate. The fastener product is useful as a repeated use bag closure, with a pair of grooves and a graspable rib (132) integrally molded into the substrate between the fastener elements and loops. The center portion of the closure seals the bag until it is torn away to expose the mating bands of loops and fastener elements. Methods and apparatus are disclosed for continuously molding the resin of the substrate while permanently attaching preformed material, such as loop material staked in discrete regions, to resin of the substrate, and for forming discrete bags incorporating the bag closure. Methods of applying recloseable touch fasteners, e.g. hook and loop fasteners, to sheet or film include vertical form and fill and horizontal form and fill packaging and pouch making.

摘要： Fastenings, including stretchy or flexible "zebra-like" and "leopard-like" appearing materials, are disclosed having spaced bands or a distribution islands of molded loop-engageable hooks or molded pre-forms for hooks, between which are bands or regions of different character. Molding is by rigid molds filled from the base region of the stems. In embodiments, linear bands or islands of fastener elements are themselves inextensible in the direction of their extent and comprise multiple rows of fastener elements. For ease of forming a uniform, elastically stretchy or flexible product, the bands or islands of fastener elements extend in the machine direction during manufacture. Embodiments shown employ a widthwise continuous carrier of uniform character to which multiple spaced bands or islands of hooks have their molded stems in situ bonded, and in other embodiments, over-lapping margins of the bases of hook bands are in situ laminated to surface structure of adjacent bands of carrier using a laminating nip in which one of the rolls is a mold roll. For a preferred mode of manufacture of an elastically stretchy product, stretchy carrier material is stretchy only in the widthwise (cross-machine) direction. In composite hook and loop fastener products, the bands or regions of material between adjacent bands or islands of hooks comprise loop-engageable material, that is uniform in construction widthwise, the loop-forming material itself being an elastically stretchable or a flexible component. In useful product categories, the hook bands or islands and intervening regions of material have importantly different width ranges. Novel elastically stretchable and flexible loop-defining materials, and their methods of manufacture are shown. In situ lamination of hook, bands or islands on surfaces of materials held in a planar orientation or presenting a planar surface are also shown, flexible materials on tenter frames and rigid materials.

摘要： Fastener products having a multiplicity of fastener elements extending from a strip-form base, the base including first and second attachment members for attachment of a substrate therebetween, are formed by continuously introducing molten resin to a gap defined adjacent a peripheral surface of a rotating mold roll. The resin forms part of the strip-form base of the product at the peripheral mold roll surface and fills an array of fixed cavities defined in the rotating mold roll to form portions of the fastener elements as projections extending from a first side of the sheet-form base. While the resin is on the mold roll, a sheet material is introduced. The sheet material is folded about a longitudinal fold line to form first and second overlapping fold portions and is introduced under conditions selected to cause the second fold poriton to become permanently bonded to resin of the base, while leaving the first fold portion remaining free to be subsequently unfolded from said second fold portion about said fold line. The resin is solidified and stripped from the peripheral surface of the mold roll by pulling the projections from their respective cavities. In some embodiments, a spring section is integrally molded with and extends laterally from a fastening section of the fastener product. The spring section is formed by at least one undulation of the sheet form base that allows the spring section to stretch elastically in a lateral direction upon application of lateral tension to the fastening assembly.
