    • The invention relates to a machine for producing electrical harnesses. The machine comprises: a rectilinear main conveyor (1) suitable for moving clamps (2) for transferring the ends (4, 5) of lengths (3) of wire; a bench (9); and a station (6) for loading lengths (3) of wire and situated on a first side of the main conveyor, while the loop-forming portions (3a) of said lengths of wire are situated on a second side of the main conveyor. The machine also includes a fixed rectilinear transverse slideway (13) orthogonal to the main conveyor and forming a support for guiding components (18, 19, 20, 21) in translation. The machine further includes a device for moving and positioning components on the slideway, and a clamp (40) for inserting the ends of the lengths of wire, which clamp is mounted on a support that is movable in rotation and in translation relative to an axis (YY) that is orthogonal to the main conveyor and to the slideway. The technical field of the invention is that of machines and methods for producing electrical harnesses.

    • A taping section (14) of a harness making machine comprises a taping device (10), two conveyors (18, 20) and a bridging conveyor (40) positioned therebetween. The bridging conveyor (40) allows passage of pallets (34) that carry nodes of a harness (36) from the first conveyor (18) to the second conveyor (20). Once a node has passed over from the first to the second conveyor, the bridging conveyor (40) is vertically removed by the piston rod (43) to allow the taping device (10) to be positioned between the conveyors. The harness (4) is received in a slot (8) of the taping device which tapes the harness whilst it is axially moved by the conveyors until the second pallet (38) reaches the taping device (10). The taping device is removed, the bridging conveyor (14) inserted and the procedure continues as described above for taping the second section (4') of harness between the nodes (38, 39). A simple automated procedure for taping harnesses is thus provided.

    • The present invention provides a circuit board connector which has a low profile and which occupies a small area on a circuit board without having any effect on the insertion of mating connectors even in cases where screws of which the length of the threaded section is greater than the combined total of the thickness of the lower wall of the housing and the thickness of the circuit board are used. The housing (10) of the connector (1) has latching surfaces on the inside of the upper wall (16) which forms the cavities (14) into which mating connectors are inserted. Furthermore, screw-attachment sections (26) which have holes (28) that accommodate screws (5) used to fasten the connector (1) to the circuit board are formed as integral parts of the housing (10) on the underside of the rear wall (12) of the housing (10). The front walls (30) which delineate the holes (28) are thicker than the opposite rear walls (32). When the screws (5) are screwed into the holes (28), the rear walls (32) expand slightly; accordingly the screws (5) move rearward so that there is no protrusion of the screws (5) into the interiors of the cavities (14).
