    • A method for producing amino resins based on formaldehyde, urea and dialdehyde, which are used as adhesive for cellulose-based products. In the method, formaldehyde, aliphatic dialdehyde and urea are condensed in two of more stages, such that in stage (1) the molar ratio of formaldehyde to urea is 2.6-5.0/1 and pH 3.5-6.5 and the condensation temperature 70-100 C, and the amount of dialdehyde is 0.01-0.06 moles per mole of formaldehyde, and condensation takes place in the presence of 0.01-0.10 moles of ammonia, hexamine, ammonium salt, aliphatic amine or diamine per mole of urea, and in stage (2) and optionally the following stages, the molar ratio of formaldehyde to urea is reduced to 2.4-1.5/1 by the addition of urea. The dialdehyde may consist of glyoxal or glutaraldehyde. The invention also relates to an amino resin produced according to the method, and to the use thereof.

    • Toner particles for electrophotographic copying and electrostatic printing consist of pigmented thermoplastic base particles having the surface covered with a thermoplastic fine-grained polymerizate. The base particles are prepared by suspension polymerization and the fine-grained polymerizate originates from a latex prepared by emulsion or microsuspension polymerization. One method of preparing the toner consists of bringing an aqueous dispersion of the base particles into contact with a latex of the fine-grained polymerizate. The temperature is raised so that the fine-grained particles adhere to the surface of the base particle. A protective colloid system can be present and/or the particles can have charges of opposite character. In another method the preparation of the toner particles comprises suspension polymerization of monomer for formation of the base particles in the presence of an already prepared latex whereby the latex particles have higher hydrophility than the polymer in the base particle. The fine-grained particles can also be applied to the base particles according to a dry method.

    • An adhesive composition based on resorcinol novolac or resorcinol-phenolic novolac contains 35-75 % by weight of novolac, less than 25 % by weight of water, and 10-40 % by weight of an aliphatic divalent, trivalent or tetravalent alcohol. The adhesive composition may also contain up to 20 % by weight of filler, based on the amount of novolac, water and alcohol. In a method for preparing the adhesive composition based on resorcinol novolac or resorcinol-phenolic novolac, the novolac is produced by conventional condensation, whereupon an aliphatic divalent, trivalent or tetravalent alcohol is added and water in the novolac is distilled off, resulting in an adhesive composition as defined above. Alternatively, the amount of water can be reduced in the condensation of the novolac to be replaced with an aliphatic divalent, trivalent or tetravalent alcohol.

    • In a process for making board according to the wet method, a stock is prepared from fibres produced from a fibrous raw material, and a binder is added prior to dewatering and pressing. The process is distinguished by adding the binder to the fibres before the preparation of the stock. The binder may be a water-soluble binder which is precipitated and fixed to the fibres by acidification. Acidification may take place in connection with the preparation of the stock or prior thereto as well as prior to the addition of the binder. The binder can be added to the fibres in the blow line from the defibrator for producing the fibres from the fibrous raw material, or it may be added to the fibres before the defibrator.
