    • The present invention relates to a polymer based material comprising a water binding agent, whereas the water binding agent is present in an amount sufficient to chemically and/or physically absorb and/or adsorb water to prevent degradation of the polymer. It also relates to a polymer based material which comprises a plasticizer or organic solvent as well as a multi-component material or composite including materials encompassing a second polymer and/or an active agent. Furthermore it relates to a method for manufacturing the polymer comprising material and use of the material for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition to be used for treatment of bone, cartilage and/or periodontal defects. The invention also encompasses a kit using the polymeric material. Further, the present invention encompasses the use of a water binding agent for inhibiting water induced degradation of a polymer comprising material, for inducing blood clot stabilization in a polymer comprising material and for increasing storage stability in a polymer comprising material, wherein the water binding agent is not removed prior to application of the material.

    • The present invention is directed to a moldable biomaterial comprising a particulate solid porous material and a biodegradable paste material. The paste material and the particulate solid porous material form a matrix usable for the replacement or augmentation of bone. In various embodiments the matrix has a high structural integrity, which does not immediately or shortly after implantation collapse into an amorphous non-porous mass, maintains its porosity after implantation, shows biphasic degradation after implantation and/or has a good resistance against being washed out when it is applied to a wet opened implant site. Active agents can be incorporated in the moldable biomaterial of the present invention, such as bone growth factors. Kits, implants, method of manufacturing as well as medicinal uses are also provided.

    • The present invention relates to a method of coating of a device, preferably implants, with a substance comprising the steps of (a) contacting said device into a solution of said substrate or substance, and (b) drying said device while being submerged in said solution. The present invention also relates to a packaging container for a device, preferably an implant. Said packaging container being adapted such that said device is coatable within said packaging container. Moreover, the present invention relates to a method of coating the inner surfaces of a packaging container for a device, preferably implants, to be coated by a substance, comprising the steps of (a) siliconizing said inner surfaces of said container using a silicone emulsion, and (b) heat-curing to form a baked-in silicone layer on said inner surfaces of said container. Moreover said packaging container relates to the use of said method of coating a packaging container for improving and/or controlling the distribution coefficient of the substance to be coated on said device between said container and said device Furthermore, the present invention encompasses a coated device, preferably an implant, obtainable by a method according to the present invention. The present invention also relates to the use of said method of coating devices for improving the homogeneous distribution of the coating on the device. Finally, the present invention relates to the use of said method of coating a packaging container for improving and/or controlling the distribution coefficient of the substance to be coated on said device between said container and said device.
