    • The invention relates to a method for assisting and guiding the navigation of a tool in arborescent anatomical structures, or so-called structures of interest. The inventive method involves a planning phase wherein a pre-operative 3D image containing the structures of interest is obtained, and the structures of interest in said pre-operative 3D image are segmented in order to obtain a descriptive model. The inventive method also involves an intervention phase comprising the following steps: a temporal sequence of pre-operative 2D images containing at least one image (so-called reference image) comprising the structures of interest is obtained; the structures of interest in the reference image are segmented in order to obtain 2D primitives; the pre-operative 3D referentials and the pre-operative 2D referentials are reset by determining the parameters of a geometrical transformation; the tool is localised and monitored in the pre-operative 3D image by detecting at least one marker on the tool in the pre-operative 2D images; and information about the sporadic localisation of the at least one marker in the pre-operative 3D image is supplied.
