    • The high voltage supply for a picture tube comprises a high voltage transformer, which generates the anode voltage of the picture tube, and a high voltage module with a switched mode power supply for providing a grid voltage, which is higher than the anode voltage. The output of the high voltage transformer is coupled to the transformer of the switched mode power supply, for adding the output voltage of the switched mode power supply to the high voltage of the high voltage transformer. Preferably, the transformer of the switched mode power supply provides the high voltage isolation, and at least the high voltage part of the module including the transformer is potted with a resin. The high voltage module provides advantageously also an output for a connection to the anode of the picture tube, so that the module can be used with present high voltage transformers, without requiring any modification. The primary side of the switched mode power supply comprises a control stage with adjustable means for setting a specific output voltage of the power supply. In a preferred embodiment, this output voltage is adjustable between 300 and 500 Volts, with respect to the high voltage of the high voltage transformer.

    • A compensating circuit is for compensating distortion of a picture which is displayed on a display unit having a yoke. The compensating circuit controls a yoke current to compensate a picture distortion. The compensating circuit comprises a first generating section for generating a digital deflecting compensation signal in accordance with deflecting compensation data representative of compensation value of the picture. A second generating section generating a variable voltage (+B voltage) in accordance with a PWM pulse signal to control the yoke current on the basis of the variable voltage. A peak holding circuit holds a peak voltage of a flyback pulse based on the variable voltage to produce a peak voltage signal representative of the peak voltage. An A/D converter circuit converts the peak voltage signal into a digital peak signal. A PWM section produces the above-mentioned PWN pulse signal in accordance with the digital deflecting compensation signal and the digital peak signal.

    • A speed-up circuit 10 is connected to a detection line 6 for feeding back the high voltage detection value of a high voltage detection circuit 5 to a high voltage stabilizing circuit 1. When a power supply switch is turned on, since a PNP transistor 12 of the speed-up circuit 10 is turned on, a resistor 11 is connected to the detection line 6, so that the high voltage detection value is reduced forcedly. Accordingly, the high voltage stabilizing circuit 1 increases the peak value of a flyback pulse generated by a resonance-type power supply circuit 2 to output higher high voltage thereby to shorten the rising time of the high voltage output supplied to the anode of a CRT. After the lapse of the predetermined time from the turning-on of the power supply switch, since the terminal voltage of a capacitor 13 having been charged through a resistor 14 exceeds almost the voltage at a point A, the PNP transistor 12 is turned off, so that the resistor 11 is separeted from the detection line. Accordingly, the responsibility of the flyback pulse is prevented from being degraded at the time of the abrupt change of the load of the CRT.

    • In a video display operable at multiple horizontal scanning frequencies, a synchronized high voltage generator is substantially undisturbed during synchronizing source selection or interruption. The generator comprises a controlled oscillator generating a drive signal. A source of pulses synchronizes the controlled oscillator and has a plurality of scanning frequencies. A high voltage generator is coupled to the drive signal and generates a display energizing supply. The scanning frequencies occur in two frequency bands, and when synchronized the oscillator generates the drive signal having a frequency only in a higher frequency band of the two frequency bands. In a further inventive arrangement a high voltage generator for a video display is operable at a plurality of horizontal scanning frequencies and is controlled such that the high voltage supply remains substantially constant during an interruption of horizontal scanning pulses from the source.

    • An input buffer particularly suitable for a semiconductor device includes a CMOS inverter for buffering an input signal which varies between first and second logic levels and producing an output signal at an output node thereof which is the logical inverse of the input signal, and a compensation circuit for compensating the output signal for fluctuations thereof which are due to fluctuations of a supply voltage. The compensation circuit further includes a compensation control circuit coupled to the supply voltage for controllably varying the electrical resistance of the channel of the compensation MOS transistor in such a manner as to minimize fluctuations of the voltage level of the output signal due to fluctuations of the supply voltage.

    • An anode voltage (high voltage) of a CRT is detected by a voltage division. When it is detected by a comparator that the reduction of the high voltage has exceeded the controlled range of a high voltage stabilizing loop, two switches will be on. When one switch is on, the controlling end of a processing circuit controlling the luminance will be low in the potential and the direct current level or amplitude of a video signal will be limited. Thereby, the luminance will be controlled and the high voltage will become high. Meanwhile, when the other switch is on, the ABL operating voltage will forcibly become low and, even after the two switches become off, the average level of the luminance will be controlled. Thereby, the high voltage will return within a short time into the controlled range of the high voltage stabilizing loop and will be stabilized.
