摘要： An audio driver equipped with a distortion compensation unit corrects for detected distortion and includes a digital to analog converter (DAC), an amplifier, and an output driver that drives a loudspeaker. Between the output driver and the loudspeaker, the audio driver can include a series resistor and a differential amplifier to measure the voltage across the resistor. A distortion detection unit can use the detected voltage to determine whether distortion, such as rub and buzz distortion is present. The distortion detection unit can comprise an analog to digital converter (ADC) to digitize the voltage data, an FFT to transform the voltage data into frequency information, a root-mean-square (RMS) module that measures the energy at each frequency, and an analysis module which looks for the distortion signature in the energy spectrum.

摘要： An audio apparatus includes a signal processor, a power amplifier, a speaker, and a controller. A current consumption prediction unit in the controller predicts current consumption on the basis of a monitoring result of an output level monitoring unit in the signal processor and/or a monitoring result of a power supply voltage monitoring unit in the controller. A limiter control unit in the controller controls a limiter in the signal processor in a normal mode or a current limiting mode on the basis of predicted current consumption. In the current limiting mode, the limiter is controlled so that an attenuation speed higher than that in the normal mode and a threshold value smaller than that in the normal mode are obtained.

The amplifier 14 includes distortion sensing means for detecting when the level of distortion of the output signal of the amplifier 14 exceeds a reference threshold and a control circuit 16 reduces the sound output level of the amplifier in response to a signal from the distortion sensing means. The reference threshold of the distortion sensing means 14 is varied in dependence upon the output level setting of the volume control 18 so that the allowable output distortion can be varied based upon user input.

摘要： A linear power amplifier utilizes active feedback pre-distortion linearization. The power amplifier is a two-stage amplifier which includes a pre-distortion active feedback driver amplifier and a power amplifier. The driver amplifier provides gain expansion and insertion phase decrease as input power is increased, which compensates for the output power amplifier's gain compression and insertion phase increase with input power, resulting in a two-stage amplifier with relatively higher linear power output power capability and associated power-added efficiency. The two-stage linear power amplifier in accordance with the present invention provides improved linear efficiency which can be mass-produced in high volume with excellent repeatability. A voltage bias circuit with an external voltage post enables the two-stage amplifier to be tuned with an external voltage for optimum performance.

The compression amplifiers can be built into a multi-channel AGC device, so that the circuit can be co-integrated on a "switched capacitor" filter chip in CMOS technology. To this end, an amplifier SC having variable gain constructed as a "switched capacitor" amplifier, a rectifier unit GR' as well as a low-pass filtr TP' are in a feedback branch and a two quadrant multiplier ZM1 is connected between the input and output Ue', Ua' of the compression amplifier. The output of the lo-pass filter TP' is thereby fed back onto the control input of the two quadrant multiplier ZM'.
