摘要： An opening and closing mechanism for photographic film cartridges of the type having a film-receiving tray with outwardly extending front and side lips and a flexible cover for the tray resealably engaged with the lips. The opening and closing mechanism includes a cartridge-receiving base with front and side lips for supporting the front and side lips of the tray. A carriage is mounted for movement with respect to the base. An elongated roller including cartridge cover-engaging fingers is rotatably and movably mounted to the carriage. Springs bias the roller toward engagement with the lips of the base. A carriage drive assembly includes a roller drive linkage, a track drive linkage, a motor and a shuttle linkage. A rack is mounted adjacent to the base for engagement by the track drive linkage. During the cartridge opening stroke, the shuttle linkage couples the motor to the roller drive linkage causing the roller to rotate in a first direction and peel the cover from the tray and wind the cover onto the roller. During the cartridge closing stroke, the shuttle linkage couples the motor to the track drive linkage to drive the carriage with respect to the base and rotate the roller in a second direction to unwind the reseal the cover onto the tray.

摘要： A cassette containing a stack of film units having overlapping positive and negative sheets has a housing with first and second side walls having first and second openings, and a light-admitting aperture between the two side walls. The film units are stored in a first compartment of the housing adjacent to the aperture in such a way that the foremost unit is in register with the opening in one of the side walls. A discrete withdrawing strip for each film unit has an inner portion adhering to the rear side of the respective unit and an outer portion extending outwardly through the opening in the other side wall. The withdrawing strips form a bundle which extends through a channel connecting the first compartment with a second compartment behind the stacked film units. When a withdrawing strip is extracted from the housing, its inner portion is peeled off the rear side of the corresponding freshly exposed film unit while the latter leaves the housing via the opening in the one side wall and enters a developing unit. A cover sheet is located in front of the foremost film unit or in front of each film unit to allow for the making of a test exposure in a photographic copying machine prior to extraction of the cover sheet with the help of an additional withdrawing strip which extends outwardly through the opening in the other side wall of the housing.

When the cassette is interfaced with the camera, electrical contacts in the camera engage the terminals of the cassette battery through access ports in the cassette housing. These access ports are provided with removable battery terminal masks to prevent accidental completion of an electrical circuit. The camera is equipped with enclosure means for receiving the cassette and with means associated therewith for removing the battery terminal masks so as to expose the terminals which can then engage the camera contacts for completion of an electrical circuit.

Because of the structure of this second roller, the thickness of the resilient layer varies across the length of the roller thereby permitting a variation in the deformation capability of its sheet contacting surface. By specially selecting the variable deformation characteristics of this surface, both the initial distribution and subsequent flow patterns of the processing fluid may be controlled to meet the design requirements that the fluid thickness between the sheets be uniform and the film unit size minimized.

摘要： A hermetic, light-tight cartridge for containing sheet material containing a light-sensitive element, such as an aperture card. The cartridge is arranged to permit the cards to be withdrawn. The cartridge comprises a body portion having a generally rectangular cross section, a bottom wall portion, and opposed side and end walls connected to the bottom wall portion. The body portion has an open top through which the the cards may be withdrawn and an opening in the bottom wall portion. A removable top is provided for the body portion and a closure member is provided for the opening in the bottom wall. The closure member comprises a support plate disposed within the body portion and having a size generally equal to the size of the sheet material. The closure member is arranged to positively and releasably engage and seal the periphery of the opening in said bottom wall portion and the removable top is arranged to positvely and releasably engage and seal the top edge of the body portion. The closure member has means engageable exterior of the cartridge for movement into and out of engagement with the opening and to lift the sheet material out of the top of the opened cartridge.
