    • There is disclosed a LED light (10) including a lower housing (14), an upper housing (15), and a thermally insulative base gasket (16). The upper housing has a top wall (31) with a central mounting area (35) and a peripheral margin. The wall thickness of the central mounting area is thicker than that of the peripheral margin (38). The upper housing also includes a plurality of heat dissipating ribs (41) extending between the mounting area and the sidewalls. The ribs increase in height as they extend outwardly toward the sidewalls. The lighting portion includes a LED light array (37), a lens (48), and a lens gasket (49). With the LED array mounted to the central mounting area, heat generated by the LED array is conveyed to the central mounting area and then conveyed through the upper housing top wall and ribs to the sidewalls.

    • A lighting assembly includes a light fixture adapted to be disposed in relation to an opening defined in a surface of a structure such that a lamp may be installed in the light fixture through the opening of the structure. A thermal insulation barrier surrounds the light fixture, is positioned in close proximity of the opening of the structure and constructed so as to entrap heat from the opening of the structure. A trim has an outer surface, configured to substantially enclose the opening, consists of at least one fireproof material, and is adapted to engage the light fixture so that the outer surface is disposed in proximity to the opening of the structure and forms a continuous surface with the structure.

    • A lamp assembly 10 has a light source 12 having two sealed electrodes 14, 16, sealed in a seal area 17 and defining a lamp axis 18. A concave shell 20 has an internal surface 22 with a reflective surface 23 formed thereon. The concave shell 20 has a neck 24 defining a neck cavity 26 and a reflector axis 28. The neck 24 is provided with an electrical connection 30 and a mechanical support for the light source 12. The shell 20 surrounds the source 12 to reflect light from the source 12 to a field to be illuminated during lamp operation. The source 12 and the reflector surface 23 are oriented with the lamp axis 18 substantially co-axial with the reflector axis 28, and at least a portion of at least one of the electrodes, for example, 14, extends into the neck cavity 26. A zone 32 is formed in the neck cavity 26 for substantially redirecting specular reflection away from the seal area.

    • The present invention 10 discloses a protective screen safety guard 12 that attaches to lamps, heat lamps, or the like 18 which provides means for both light and heat for living creatures 20 contained in an aquarium and/or terrarium habitat 22. The present invention is a protective screen guard having a screen element 12 with spaced apart flanged fasteners 14 for engaging the lip 16 of a lamp, heat lamp, or the like 18. There are three flange members 14 provided, two of which are permanently affixed to the screen guard 12 and the third, a removable flange 26 having a captive (pem-type) fastener 28 for the securing and removal of the screen guard 12 from the lip 16 of a heat lamp 18. In a preferred additional embodiment, an opaque deflector plate 36 is secured between the light bulb 30 and the screen 12. The opaque deflector plate 36 redirects heat produced by the light bulb 30 providing improved means to protect an animal. The deflector plate 36 is secured by means of a screw 38 that is inserted through an aperture 42 in the screen 12 and anchored with a threaded insert 44 that is affixed to the deflector plate 36.

    • A mounting assembly (10) for an electrodeless 1 amp (100). The mounting assembly (10) comprises a fixture housing (14) having an inner surface (16) and an outer surface (18). The fixture housing is preferably made from aluminum. Spaced-apart heat sinks (20, 21) are affixed to the inner surface (16) of the fixture housing (14). A reflector (22), which is preferably concave, as is the fixture housing, is positioned within the fixture housing (14). The reflector (22) contains two apertures (24, 26) that are aligned with the heat sinks (20, 21). Thermal insulators (28, 29) are positioned in the apertures and surround the heat sinks, thus thermally isolating the reflector from the heat sinks. The lamp (100) is mounted in the fixture housing by attaching brackets (40, 42), which surround the ferrite transformer cores of the lamp, directly to the top surfaces of the heat sinks (20, 21). Mounting is preferably accomplished by having threaded holes formed in the heat sinks and fixing the brackets in place via screws through the legs (44) and screw receiving slots (46).
