    • A food processor or a chopper has a rotating blade, a motor, an intermediate shaft driven by the motor and an output shaft driving the blade. A first clutch member is coupled with the intermediate shaft, and a second clutch member is coupled with the output shaft. The clutch members are movable from an engaged position for driving the output shaft from the motor and a disengaged position for disengaging the output shaft from the motor. A safety interlock mechanism enables and disables the motor. A clutch lever is operable with the safety interlock to move the clutch members between the engaged and disengaged positions such that when the motor is enabled the clutch members are engaged for driving the output shaft from the motor and when the motor is disabled the first and second clutch members are disengaged for disengaging the output shaft from the motor.

    • An integrated wheel end system for a vehicle including a clutch adapted to provide driving engagement/disengagement of a wheel to convert between driven and non-driven modes of wheel movement. A support is coupled to the vehicle frame and an elongate spindle is mounted in a bearing in the support. The outer end of the spindle is adapted to have a wheel mounted thereon, and the inner end of the spindle has a radially outwardly entending flange having engaging elements arrayed about its periphery. A driven axle has a plurality of engaging elements arrayed about its periphery adjacent the flange of the spindle. A sliding clutch member is shiftable between a driving position in which it concurrently engages the engaging elements on the axle and spindle flange to provide a driving connection therebetween, and a non-driving position where such concurrent engagement does not exist. A selectively activated actuator is provided for moving the clutch member between its driving and non-driving positions.

    • A dynamic tooth clutch interposed between two rotating members for coupling same includes a first collar slidably mounted on one of the members and has a plurality of equally angularly spaced axially extending radial first inner and outer teeth. A second collar is fixed to the other member and has a plurality of equally angularly spaced axially extending radial second outer teeth that are designed to intermesh with the first outer teeth and are so angularly spaced that when the first and second outer teeth are centered relative to one another there can be a first predetermined amount of bidirectional angular rotational movement therebetween before there is abutment of adjacent tooth side surfaces. A cam ring coacts with the second collar, with the cam ring being capable of a predetermined amount of bidirectional angular rotational movement relative to the second collar. The cam ring, which is preloaded and self-centered relative to the second collar, has a plurality of second inner teeth that are angularly aligned with the second outer teeth in the self-centered cam position, with the combined tooth depth of the first and second inner teeth being greater than the combined tooth depth of the first and second outer teeth, thus permitting axial end abutment of only the inner teeth in the absence of intermeshing. The force for displacing the first collar toward the second collar is less than the centering force on the cam ring thus permitting direct meshing of the first and second inner teeth but only complete centered axial meshing of the first and second outer teeth prior to the angular displacement of the cam ring relative to the second collar, thereby allowing full axial intermeshing of the first and second outer teeth before there is abutment and subsequent torque transfer between the outer teeth.

    • The present invention provides a clutch. The clutch of the invention includes a coupler, that is a ring or hollow structure surrounding a lumen. The lumen of the coupler has an engaging section and a non-engaging section. In an engaged configuration of the clutch, a driving member and a driven member are located in the engaging section of the coupler and rotation of the driving member in the engaging section generates rotation of the coupler and rotation of the coupler generates rotation of the driven member. In a disengaged configuration of the clutch, one or both of the driving member and the driven member is not located in the engaging section of the coupler and either rotation of the driving member does not generate rotation of the coupler or rotation of the coupler does not generate rotation of the driven member.

    • An axle disconnect assembly for translating rotational torque between an output shaft and an axle shaft of a vehicle driveline; including: disconnect housing and a clutch supported therein. The clutch is disposed in selective torque translating relationship between the output shaft and the axle shaft, and is movable between: an engaged configuration wherein torque is translated between the output shaft and the axle shaft; and a disengaged configuration wherein torque is interrupted between the shafts. An electromagnetic actuator is provide and has a slider selectively movable between a first stable position and a second stable position. The actuator is disposed in force translating relationship with the clutch such that movement from one stable position to the other stable position causes corresponding movement of the clutch between the configurations so as to selectively translate rotational torque between the output shaft and the axle shaft.
