    • A lawn mower is illustrated as including a carburetor having a float bowl adapted to contain a vent assembly for selectively venting the air space of the carburetor float bowl to the atmosphere when the internal combustion engine of the lawn mower is running and for precluding evaporation of fuel from the air space when the engine is not running. The lawn mower fuel tank also includes a vent assembly for selectively venting the fuel tank to the atmosphere when the internal combustion engine is running and for precluding evaporation of fuel from the fuel tank into the atmosphere when the engine is not running. Each vent assembly includes a valve member resting on a valve seat and supported for movement in response to vibration of the engine and in such a manner that the valve member will return to its position on the valve seat when the engine is shut off.

    • A fuel metering device, such as a carburetor for a combustion engine, has a fuel bowl or fuel reservoir with a fuel vapor venting apparatus for, at times, venting such fuel vapors from the interior of the fuel reservoir to, for example, associated canister means. A resiliently deflectable valve member carried as by a stem of an associated solenoid assembly serves to open and close related fuel vapor vent passages. When in one of its operating positions, the valve member is effective for opening a vent passage leading to an associated canister and, when in another of its operating positions, the valve member is effective for opening a vent passage leading to a motive fluid induction passage leading to the associated combustion engine.

    • The invention provides a carburetor comprising a float chamber, a throat and a fuel duct extending between the chamber and the throat and from which duct, subject to the below, fuel could overflow to the throat on tilting of the carburetor occurring; and wherein the carburetor is characterized in having a weir communicating, on one side, with the float chamber and, on the other side, with fuel collecting means and over which weir fuel can flow on such tilting occurring whereby to at least in part reduce overflow of fuel through said duct to the throat in consequence of such tilting.The carburetor may be made such in initial manufacture or an existing carburetor may be modified.A device for modifying a carburetor is also provided.
