    • A pneumatic stowing apparatus for use in underground mine galleries for pneumatically transporting mine waste resulting from blasting operations, mainly comprises a housing in which an element forming at least one chamber is movable between a material receiving position in which such mine waste is filled through an inlet opening in the housing into the chamber and a material-discharging position in which opposite open ends of the chamber are respectively aligned with openings in opposite end walls of the housing, through one of which compressed air is blown over a valve into the chamber so that the mine waste in the latter is transported to a point of use through a discharge conduit connected to the opening in the opposite end wall of the housing, a motor to move the chamber forming element between the positions thereof, and a member for opening and closing the valve in timed sequence with the movement of the chamber forming element.

    • A jet stower for use in handling material in mining comprises a casing having a material inlet and at least two outlets, the casing having an inlet for compressed air to be fed to one or more distribution chambers. The stower casing has an air accelerating unit fitted therein, the unit having at least one air chamber fitted with a nozzle upstream of a material inlet to the unit, across which the nozzle outlet is directed. In use, the unit can be positioned in the casing in any one of at least two alternative positions to direct material entrained in an accelerated air flow downstream of the nozzle outlet to a selected outlet so as to discharge it in a selected direction in the mine. The selected positioning of the unit can be carried out merely by removing the unit and reversing its position in the casing or by linearly or angularly moving it without removing it from the casing. In each selected position only one distribution chamber of the casing communicates with only one air chamber of the unit to produce the accelerated air flow in one direction to one outlet of the unit and casing.

    • A device for continuous transporting granulated material includes a storageontainer and a tubular conveyor housing positioned below and storage container and receiving the granulated material therefrom. The conveyor housing is supplied with pressurized air. A separating member is movable longitudinally of the conveyor housing between a space containing pressurized air and a space containing the granulated material. The separating member is peripherally spaced from the inner wall of the housing to form a through passage therebetween, which continually connects the pressurized air space with the space containing the granulated material. The separating member is provided with an opening connected to a discharge pipe. The separating member forms in the conveyor housing a movable pressure cushion of varying volume which in turn forms in the housing a pressure gas-material mixture which is discharged from the housing through the opening in the separating member and the discharge pipe.
