    • A concrete forming system includes a plurality of forms each comprising a planar upper wall having curved shoulders extending along each edge thereof and side walls comprising upper outwardly tapered portions which facilitate withdrawal of the forms following a concrete forming operation and lower portions extending perpendicularly to the upper wall. The lower portion of each side wall has longitudinally spaced sets of holes formed therethrough with each set comprising a plurality of vertically spaced holes. The forms have open ends, with one end of the form having an outwardly extending lip for receiving the opposite end of an adjacent form to position the exterior surfaces of the form in alignment across the joint therebetween. End caps are provided for receiving the upper walls and the side walls of the forms to close the otherwise open end. The forms are supported on wooden spacers by means of nails extending through the holes in the side walls of the forms and into the spacers, with the positioning of the upper walls of the form relative to the spacers depending on the particular hole of each set that receives the nail. Double-headed nails are preferably utilized in order to facilitate subsequent disassembly of the forms from the spacers. The spacers have apertures formed therein and are supported by post shores which have locating pins in the upper ends thereof which are received in the apertures of the spacers.

    • A steel joist formwork and a composite steel and concrete floor structure provided with a top chord, a bottom chord and a web joining the top and bottom chords with the top chord being serpentine shaped like an S or Z and including top and bottom, generally horizontal portions and an intermediate portion integrally connecting opposite edges of the top and bottom portions with the top and intermediate portions substantially being adapted to be embedded in the concrete floor to cause the floor and steel joists to act structurally as a composite beam. Either the web or a leg depends vertically from the free end of the bottom portion of the top chord, and the web joining the top and bottom chords is substantially solid or is, an open web formed of a zig-zag bar member. There is also disclosed a building system and erecting method utilizing steel joists spaced apart by spanner bars which also support rigid panels which act as formwork for the pouring of concrete. The spanner bars and the joists are so arranged to cooperate that the spanner bars may be removed together with the rigid panels after the concrete has been poured, and the spanner bars, the rigid panels and if desired the steel joists may be reused for formwork for additional poured concrete construction. Alternatively the joists may be left in place either with the top chords embedded in the poured concrete to provide a composite action, or merely supporting the concrete slab in the conventional fashion. A novel cold rolled sheet steel joist may be advantageously used to form a particularly economical composite system. This steel joist is shaped in an I-beam configuration with an upper top chord bent to have the appearance of the letter Z in cross-section for bonding with the concrete floor.

    • A concrete slab and beam forming system including first and second shoring towers that are adjustable in height and which can be adjusted to provide for concrete beams of different depths. The forming system also includes a first plank with an integral facing, and second and third planks having integral facings which are pivotally attached at opposite ends of the first plank and which rest upon adjacent shoring towers in a first position in which the facings of all the planks are substantially coplanar. The planks are provided with bolts for releasably securing the second and third planks in that first position and operable to allow the second and third planks to be pivoted to a second position in which the facings of the second and third planks are substantially perpendicular to the facing of the first plank. One component of the slab and beam forming system is the slab form, another component is the shoring tower, and a method is provided for constructing a concrete slab supported by a beam using the components of the forming system.

    • An arrangement for encasing ceilings with trusses in which a framework of four telescopic supports and strengthened by struts, holds casing beams having two sides on which telescopic ceiling casing carriers are located. The framework provides for supporting the casing for the trusses, and at least two trusses are placed a distance apart and adjacent from each other. Between the casing beams and the supports, beam support carriers are telescoped on both ends and combined into a fixed-angle frame detachably and tension-proof connected to the supports. The support carriers, furthermore, support abutments bridging a space between the casing tables for the truss casing carriers. Four intermediate supports are detachably fastened to the beam support carriers, and the casing beams which support the ceiling casing carriers and which are combined with the ceiling casing carriers into a rigid-angle frame, are fastened to the four intermediate supports. Beam support carriers are made of rectangular pipes with four detachable inserts, and are fixed in relation to the beam support carriers while being movable. The abutments are movable, moreover, in infinitely variable steps on the beam support carriers for lateral beam casings. The intermediate supports are fastened to the beam support carriers with infinitely variable height adjustment. The intermediate supports are detachably connected to the casing beams.
